I feel you on that, my man. I'm willing to give that part a pass if only because the guy is 91 and might not want/be able to dedicate to playing the character for a full series. But even there, you could have had a scene or episode with a clone or double. Continuing with my trend of fan-writing : During that big opening battle with He-man, Skeletor uses a spell to make a copy of himself to get the upper hand, and the copy is voiced by Oppenheimer.

Red Sonja wasn't a total bitch to Arnold in the movie though and Arnold had plenty of awesome moments.

This new version will gender and raceswap whatever characters the production team deems "problematic"... hell, I expect them to change some genders and races just to spite old fans that they deem problematic.

It was, I watch a lot of nerd youtube now so that got recommended to me. I figured the guy was a clown, with the marching band jacket and that helmet made out of random goodwill shit, but I didn't know he was quite that much. Thank you for the heads-up and I'll discount whatever he's got to say in the future.

She was at first to be fair. But even there the whole point of that was to outgrow her prejudices and learn not to blindly hate men. But yeah, Arnie got some good scenes in there.

Exactly, her bitchiness was something modern Hollywood simply doesn't understand anymore: A character arc. And even then, it wasn't meant to make Arnold look like shit in comparison, it wasn't justified fury over some *UGH WHITE MAN* or something. She was just distrustful of men (given that she was raped by a group of men, that's kinda understandable, too) and overcame that by the end of the movie.

Compare to ... well... Troona from this He-Man reboot or that superhero cartoon someone else posted earlier.

I think the mistake alot revamps make is mixing old and new voice actors.

When you do that it invites the comparison to the older media and risks pissing off your existing loyal fanbase by keeping some favorites and not others.

Good example is the first several transformers movies. Peter Cullen plays Optimus but Frank Weller is no where to be found. The transformers fans melted down pretty hilariously over it.

And then Frank Welker is finally hired to play soundwave, who sounded too much like Dr. Claw from inspector gadget. Which upset them further.

At this point, I get more entertainment watching all these toy companies trying and failing to be the next Disney than I do actually watching or buying the stuff they put out.

A ton of authors I know loathe Moorcock for that... one in particular has a rant about Moorcock's "Epic Pooh" anti-Tolkien screed that would make a sailor blush.

I like Elric, but so much of Moorcock's output seems to, as you point out calling him an proto-SJW, is desperately trying to be edgy and controversial.

Most notably, Behold the Man, an anti-Christian story so edgy even I (raised Jewish, athiest) am offended on Christianity's behalf. Where a time traveler goes back to meet Jesus, finds out the Virgin Mary was a whore, and Jesus was just a mentally disabled hunchback only capable of saying his own name.

Its the kind of book that easily could have been written today by a rainbiw hair, especially in the sense its awful, and its attempts to trash Christianity are all it has to offer. Crap like that is why I am much less sad about most of Moorcock's stuff being out of print.

This is largely why I do not want it adapted. He will be a doormat to the woke and let them take huge liberties.

He would make Neil Gaiman's creative oversight of the Sandman show look tough.

Reboots and derivatives done by fans of the original properties will always be better. Batman Ninja is ridiculous as shit and the animation style takes getting used to, but the whole thing was done by and for Japanese fans of Batman. It absolutely shows, and makes the movie pretty enjoyable even for non-Batfans.
The FiM movie wasn't life changing, but that was also done with large involvement from people in the industry who grew up on MLP, and they had a blast working on it. That was great to see, for me anyway.

All this just solidified I need to be getting the box set of the OG MotU and ignoring this new series. I'm curious about the 200x one, think I'll look that up as well.

Please don't let them get their hands on Conan or Heavy Metal.

It's funnier because earlier in the show Lyn was complaining about how stupid she was for chasing 'dangerous men' and how Skeletor would never return her affection.
