Is it possible to milk an iconic voice dry? If so, which goes first: Mark Hammil's Joker or Frank Welker's Megatron?
Welker has been playing Fred from Scooby Doo for 50+ years straight. I don't know if it's actually possible.

But yeah, I feel like it was a call from Direction. Hamill is a hilariously talented voice actor and would likely be known more as such had he not ended up as one of the most recognizable pop-culture characters up there with Superman. He certainly could have put more of his own spin on Skeletor.

I can name a tons of female characters I thought were badass form the 1980s, 1990s and the early 2000s that I still love to this day. I can't name any today.

I was just thinking that. All the director had to do was say MARK! You sound like the Joker! Pitch your voice a bit higher and wheeze a bit! He probably didn't even realize he was doing his joker voice. People cannot actually hear what they sound like after all.

Bet big money the director of this abortion does not even know what the Joker sounds like though. And never will because he hates animation of geek properties and was just cashing a paycheck. Be shocked if he is even aware Harley Quinn was first introduced in a batman cartoon.

Animation was nice to look at, but then everything starts to decline. A lot of this falls onto a Woke Bingo Card and is not surprising.

That said, while never a big fan of He-Man (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was my 80s fandom, growing up), I see this show as a small group's wank job at worst, or an asinine fanfic at best. To long-time fans though, this must be rough.

Oh gods. They went there!

But, have you seen the body on the guy? He's the buffest motherfucker there is and he literally has magic powers and owns a mountain carved into the shape of a serpent. You telling me this guy can't get some buxom Goth chick? Bullshit! He has a fucking THRONE! That's like better than a Corvette.
They turned our bone-headed Chad into a fucking basement dwelling-tier virgin and/or incel...

Did these fucks actually watch the shows or just play with the plastic crap and make up their own headcanons?

When it comes to fantasy works, Moorcock was/is a prototype SJW. I remember reading his ramblings in Sci/Fi fantasy APAs back in the day, the guy is a wimp. He created Elric because he was "disgusted" by Conan et. al., and hated Tolkien's works because they were not just "boring" (which is valid. It's wrong, but it's OK) but "patriarchal" and "colonialist" - forty years before the current crop of dangerhairs' parents were born.

As an old dude, watching Elric get savaged would make me cackle with glee, because it's ultimately the endgame that Moorcock was driving towards anyway.

Edit to say:

Rumor has it Gina Carano is coming back to Mandalorian, she's been seen on/around the set. I think Jon Faverau wants her back, anyway.

Hell. They had the original Skeletor on the project. I would've taken 20 or so minutes to talk to him and get an idea of how I'd want to help shape Hamill's version of the character.

That would be amazing.

You just KNOW they are going to race swap Princess Jehenna.

I am not saying Violence is the answer here. I am just saying it seems like an option worth considering.
I honestly think this is the best way to fight it. Apathy.

Skeletor only wants 10/10 Stacies. That's why he is alone.

Seriously tho he isn't a living corpse like Mum-Ra. Sure he has a a skull for a head but he has a Chad body. Also the He-Man universe is full of MONSTER PEOPLE! People should be like "A guy with a skull face...kinda looks like my neighbour Bob." There should be tons of women who want to marry him. Hell he should get fan letters every day like criminals irl.

Incel Skeletor is such a dumb idea. I can understand incel beastman but not this. He shouldn't complain about loneliness but being sourrounded by weaklings or something like that.

I guess this is going to be my hot take on the show:

Went in after my friends telling me what a shit show it was, so of course to hate it properly I had to see it for myself. The animation was really good, the music was excellent and the voice acting was solid except for Mark Hamill. (Will get to him at the end)

Episode 1: A solid episode, aside from Teela's bitch out at the end. I can kind of see where she is coming from, since she was the only one of the main group that didn't know his identity as Adam, but when the King is flipping out because he didn't know either that should have been her clue. My biggest problem is with Skeletor. He doesn't feel powerful, he doesn't feel threatening, he feels like the Joker and I have no idea why anyone else follows him.

Episode 2: Teela's redesign is ugh, but I like her techie friend. With the source of Magic destroyed, it makes sense she's trying to get people more into technology. "No glove, no love" got an audible groan out of me. This was also when I realized that Teela was voiced by Sarah Michelle Gellar. The Snake Mountain Flashback we get to see that she and He-Man were friendly rivals and she uses the knowledge of the flashback to progress the story. They even use the improvised fastball special a few times in the episodes. The Sorceress gives them their main quest: Bring Magic back to the land or the universe goes poof. Cringer being the one to talk Teela down out of her rage felt... Right, somehow. She still really hasn't processed Adam or He-Man's death, nor the fact that it was kept secret from her.

Episode 3: Humanizing Evil-lyn? I'll take it. Sure it feels like a Harley Quinn moment given what happens in episode 5, but it's a nice touch. Also, Orko! Him joining the adventure is more or less a death sentence and everyone knows it. Kevin Conroy as Mer-man was really out of place as well. Too distinctive of a voice to just toss in, I thought I was watching that Arrowverse Crisis crossover from a few years ago. Man-at-Arms super quick cameo to save them was annoying since it didn't serve a story purpose other than rescue the women.

Episode 4: Tony Todd as Candyman everyone. Once again, super distracting. Loved the design for him though. He was actually creepy and scared the fuck out of Teela until the plot took over. The Orco/Evil-Lyn talk was the highlight of the entire damn series. Orco being set up for greatness to only become the but of jokes to not only his friends but his family as well. Evil-Lyn's response actually tells more of her backstory than we know. Fight for every scrap of power and respect you can, you won't get it otherwise. The dead Trollan's were WAYYYY more effective as separate beings, but no, they had to become a giant shadow monster. Subplot C no one gives a shit about. Back in the A plot Teela uses her totally not spoiled special powers to defeat Candyman and get the sword, freeing everyone else. Open the door to He-Heaven! Orco gives the heroic sacrifice we knew was coming, but it was still pretty badass.

Episode 5: We see Adam in heaven, then find out Heaven is full of He-men. Lot of neat Cameo's here, the Wonderbread He-man got a chuckle out of me and I'm pretty sure the 2002 He-man was there. Everyone gives Adam shit for choosing his human form over his hero form. This is Smith stealing from Batman again, with all the other heroes seeing themselves as batman all the time, while Adam see himself as Bruce. That was deep 25 years ago in B:TAS, Kev. Cut that shit out. Anyways, Teela bitches out and goes off on Adam for not letting her in on his secret and dying on her. It's poorly written. As angry as she was at him I'm honestly surprised she didn't smugly tell him that his death fucked the world and possibly the universe. Anyways, Roboto reforges the Sword of Power, killing himself in the process. He even gets to feel emotion doing it. (Though it's unclear if it was the magic imbued in him or something special just before his death, since he didn't have them in hell.) Everyone goes back to Eternia, Adam decides to not only take forever transforming into He-man, but to drop his plot armor during the transformation and gets stabbed. (Holy fuck people, he isn't dead again. It's a gut shot in a world where magical healing is back again. He will be fine.

And now for the bitching portion: The writing for the show was fairly average, but holy hell when it wasn't it was because of either bad character motivation, crap dialogue or jokes that were hilariously unfunny. Writers: Having characters point out unfunny jokes does not excuse the jokes in the first place. Most of the voice cast is solid, but Joker Mark Hamill, Batman Kevin Conroy and Candyman Tony Todd all doing their iconic voices not even changing them up a little bit irked me off a lot. (I love Mark Hamill as Joker, but ONLY as Joker. Seems like every evil role he plays he just does that voice for and feels very one trick pony.) Teela got a bit Buffy at times, but at least in her case it's just her attitude and not her voice.

The overall story I actually liked: With Skeletor and He-Man gone, what happens to the world? Characters got fleshed out, we learned some new lore, it ended on a decent cliffhanger.

Kevin Smith should have just went full Silent Bob and shut the hell up. Bitching at fans and lying about the show caused so much damage to it and himself I doubt he recovers. Wonder if he'll still be producer for part 2 when this is all over?

Oh my god. This is going to be a fucking riot. Just imagine the bitch they'll team up with Conan, who will constantly best him in terms of power, wit, dexterity, compassion and wisdom. A shame we'll never hear from it again. I have a feeling the public outrage about shitty adaptations has died down a little and maybe apathy is what's in stock for all further such shitfests.

Really makes you think how the last decade is going to be seen in the future. I bet it's going to be refered to as the dark age of entertainment. So many uninspired cashgrab remakes. So many shitty adaptations. So much wokeshit.
I doubt this is going to be seen in a positive light and the best this fucking decade had to offer... was Marvel capeshit. I don't think future generations will be nice in their judgement.
