It's very reminiscent of 1984, where Newspeak was designed to keep people in a state of perpetual "doublethink" so they couldn't hold on to a single perception of the truth.

So is these people rebelling against being able to make sense when they speak?
Did they ran out of things to rebel against

How many of these He/Him Lesbians are going to be married to men in 10 years?
Most of them, I bet.

A known lolcow and also He/Him Lesbian, ckee/Traumatizedofficial/Darkskinnedprivilege, was called out for having rapey yaoi and furry Angrybirds yaoi rape in her pornstash tumblr account. So lesbian indeed.

He'd also accused another user of being a rape apologist, a drug dealer, making a "diss track" on him, and a bunch of other honest to God stupid shit. But that's another story for another day.

From what I know about Tumblrisms, "he/him lesbians" are a thing because some lesbians have some sort of "disconnect" to the female gender (maybe it's biological, maybe it isn't) that often stems from trauma. Or something like that.

Isn't this actually offensive to lesbians? I know a lot of lesbians who hate this kind of shit -- and not just TERFs. This seems like some pervy guy who has a fetish, and is taking advantage of the whole thing.

My brain hurts.

Wait, so...

Not only can people be a different gender than their biology, but their pronouns can be out of sink with their genders?
So before I only had to worry about misgendering someone with the wrong pronouns, but I now can still accidentally misgender a woman using male pronouns by calling her (err I mean "him") a man? "Stop calling my husband a man! He is a woman!" is a sentence they could say and actually be dead serious?

I'm so dizzy...my head is spinning and I can't stand up...

It's like the fabric of reality is unraveling or something. Never in my life did I think things would be anything like this. Yet here we are.

With being transgendered getting played out due to over saturation of transtrenders there's really nowhere left to go but more crazy.

It's not biological males doing this shit, it's women who for whatever reason won't call themselves FtM but then in the same breath demand to be addressed with male pronouns. It's confusing as fuck to anyone who's not used to mental gymnastics.

"Trauma" meaning "someone called me a dyke once and now I'm so terrified to be a girl that I have to tell privileged shitlords to use the right pronouns for me! I'm still a girl though, don't misgender me uwu"

Screen Shot 2018-02-09 at 12.39.05 PM.png Why would anyone think lesbians are predatory I don- "he/him lesbians" ...o-oh.

Here's the 'official' explanation of the term:

Except non-binary (NB) lesbians, which the term is supposed to describe, seem confused by the term:

And some transmen find it transphobic:

Meanwhile lesbians are accusing other lesbians of promoting violence against lesbians by rejecting the term:

Here are some points they may have failed to think through fully:

- a non-binary gender identity means you eschew gender binaries... like choosing he vs. she as a pronoun to express your gender

- the term "lesbian" means a woman who is attracted to other women. If you don't identify as a woman, you can't be a lesbian

- one of the major goals achieved by the sexual liberation and feminist movements was to expand what was considered normal and acceptable for your gender – you don't need to reject "normative femininity" to be a lesbian, because femininity itself is not inextricably tied "heteronormativity". You can still be a woman while wearing pants, riding bicycles, wearing your hair short, and kissing other women and that is now normal. Referring to female people as "he" because they don't conform to traditional gender norms is regressive, not transgressive

But actually scratch all that it seems the term is mostly used by lesbians to deny that the characters they want to ship are straight. "You thought she was dating a dude and so she's straight but actually he was a he/him lesbian so she was lesbian all along! I'm respecting the artist's intentions"

If you want some good cringe, read through your source.

“don’t you know that he/him lesbians are in the literal history?”
funny they say that but they don’t use any sources

I hear that the butch lesbians (the ones who look like guys) used to try to pass themselves off as men when going out in public with their girlfriend to avoid harassment. But since nobody in their right mind would harass two women for holding hands in public in 2018, what's the point?

As in all cases, if you're out in public as "stealth" whatever and you have to tell someone what pronouns to use, you're doing it wrong.

I find the timing of the sudden rise of "he/him lesbians" to be quite suspect. For people who aren't really following the Tumblr subforum, there was a huge surge in self-identified FtMs a little over a year ago because ~kawaii gay anime boys~ started getting popular again. My pet theory is that these people are largely made up of people in that group who realized they're not men and want to detransition, but still want to cling onto the image they made for themselves.

For what it's worth, I know some drag kings like to be called "him", and a lot of them are lesbians. But the difference, of course, is that they're playing a character.

Eddie Izzard has called himself a "male lesbian", but I get the impression that it's more related to his being a crossdresser. That and he's a commedian trying to entertain people, and he's probably not serious.

It's like we're stepping into the Twilight Zone. People just want to keep slapping more and more labels on themselves, until nothing has any meaning anymore. I mean, I'm probably more open to trans shit around here than most, but this is fucking ridiculous. It's a an oxymoron. You can't be a male and be a lesbian. Pick one or the other.
