I meant powerful more by proxy because he has actual command of over more than two dozen legions, while the show Stolas hasn't really made it clear what his supposedly high status really means.
Stolas got jumped by an imp without powers (just a magic rope) and had to rely on Moxxie and Miss Moxxie to bail him out.

OG Stolas could have kicked that fool to death; I mean look at those legs.

Stumbled on a random tumblr post talking about the struggles of queer creators having to deal with fanbases that force them into unwinable purity tests and saw vivzie being mentioned lol

Oh yeah, a new short for HB is coming out this Saturday. I would post the post that mentioned that but I don't really want to go in Twitter.

Edit: Nevermind. It came out today for some reason.

I get it. It's a meta commentary on how one-off characters like chaz, glitz and glam, and emberlynn pinkle (she appears on a screen in a cameo still living her weaboo gooner girl life in hell) only appeared one time yet became fam favorites to the point where they got their own merch and the fan base for chaz was so strong they confirmed/retconed him as having survived only with his jaw replaced with a prosthetic.

Honestly not the worst meta commentary this series has done, feels like it was just done to plug more chaz pric a prac (and not just cause it's listed in the videos sponsorship) but just kind meh to average.

Also I swear the big mouth spinoff human resources did this whole "dead twin brother " Schick too and it sucked in that god awful show as well.

And it further destroys Crimson's mob boss image if the guy he whacked is still alive and isn't keeping a low profile.

Not that this series cared about good writing.

Probably because it's April Fools Day. I was expecting throughout the video that it was going to be a dream Moxxie was having or "Zach" reveals himself to be Chaz all along, surprising everyone except Moxxie and Millie.

That's one positive I'd give this short credit for. Instead of only having Moxxie not be fooled by Chaz, Millie wasn't fooled either, so Moxxie isn't the sole straight man this time around, thankfully.

Other than that though, yeah these suck.

Still the guys walking around his jaws replaced with a prosthetic that doesn't fit right. If he's double dead in hell so what?

Being in hell, mutilated. AND hiding from the imp mob under the identity of your "twin brother." That's hell for those already born there.

I choose to believe, based solely on that one dude in this thread's absurd Nazi Vaggie avatar, that Vaggie is a neo-nazi and she got maimed and abandoned in Hell because someone doxxed her stormfront account. It was pure coincidence that this corresponded with her sparing the random child cannibal.

Prove my flawless logic wrong, you can't. QED.
it actually goes much deeper than that,
just a normal historical photo.png

The best part of the short is the reaction from THOSE kinds of fans.

Honestly, Viv should have gone all the way and put every character in there. Like Stolas. Or Loona. I wanted to see the immense backlash.

Further thoughts on this short. Emberlynn's cameo is the closet to our first in universe acknowledgement that sinners can only be in Pride. Just like with sinners/goetia dying from non angelic means, we're going on three seasons for both of these shows, and we still don't know the general details of why and how sinners can't go to other rings.

And seeing Emberlynn through video call reminds me of how underutilized Vox was as an antagonist. I know his whole plan in season 2 was to pry on sinners' hatred for the exterminations, but generally speaking, imagine the amount of power Vox could theoretically have if we saw him influencing hellborns through screens, even if he can't physically be in the same ring as them.

I think Crimson is easily Viv's lamest character by far. He's literally just Moxxie with a fedora doing an mediocre Marlon Brando impression.

I really enjoy waifu claiming autism "it should've been ME who fucked the cartoon bug demon!" as if her boyfriend isn't a hellhound which is supposed to be the lowest caste in Hell, she clearly doesn't have standards.

Which still sounds retarded to me. Even if Vivian wants to throw Dantes work to the fire and ignore the man who created our modern concept of hell and how the rings and in deeper circles the malabogias are designed to punish sinners.

It sounds like she's created her own problem of "hell is over populated." You have the circles of hell to make more room, as you said Vox could spread his influence to hellborn in the lower circles, and the demons like mammon and Ozzie get plenty of more customers/sucker's to fleece.

But hey what do I know I'm just a Kiwi farmer amd6 these are underpaid writers/animators who make a living Turing vivzies high school jhonen vasquez and maxwell atoms influenced fan art and fan fics into two shows on Amazon and youtube.

Just put each sinner in the ring with his gravest or most common corresponding sin. Put the whores in the Lust ring, the druggies in the Gluttony ring, mass shooters in the Wrath ring*. If Angel Dust killing his mafioso father has as much weight as the story wants it to, he can go to Wrath (*or Dante's "Circle of Violence," if you want to adjust Dante's vision partially, away from the "violence against nature" part lest every other character get sent there.) He can emigrate to Pride, and get exploited by Valentino and the other media whores there. You can easily rearrange it into a psuedo-California, or a psuedo-LA specifically, if you love them so much. They can still go between rings to enable trade and tourism, and the hotel marketing itself or expanding is a good opportunity for worldbuilding. You can even justify the overpopulation issue with the sheer number of sinners across the world, across all of history.

But noooo they wouldn't be reeddd and it's not really LAAAAA.

idk I think sinners being stuck in pride makes sense in context of Lucifer's punishment. He created the ability to sin so now him (and said sinners) all have to live with each other for all eternity. The shitty people now all have to endure nothing but the other shitty people forever.

...though that just raises the question of why the other rings exist at all. Why did Heaven create entire realms populated only by newly created Hellborn species that are born there through no fault of their own?

imo I've always thought the other rings was kinda dumb. The story in both shows could have functioned just fine with having one singular "Hell". The other sins could have worked under Lucifer to manage "their" sinners.

The best answer I can give is it's so Hell would have its own society outside of sinners. On paper they'd have a hand in punishing the sinners, but in practice, Hell is an open-air prison. Sinners can punish each other outside the Pride ring, and Lucifer/the Sins would have an even worse time running the place. But I think the hellborn are there because every other media about Hell has demons in some form or another. If not, people would either ask where they are, or ask a lot of other questions Viv isn't equipped to answer.

Given that Helluva focuses on hellborn I spent a bit considering Millie came from a farm and... The more I think about this, the more this Hell feels like "Earth but not Earth." Just reboot Zoophobia with your not-demons and suddenly the whole escaping and "killing innocent people" things have more weight. Have the animal land be an allegory for chaos and the human world/Not-Heaven an allegory for order and conformity. That lets you have your one-city model, more flexibility with how your society works, more time for Stolas and Blitzo having drama over and over, the works. That way we're not asked to care about a conflict that doesn't matter, even to the characters themselves.

It'd be more believable that these characters didn't bring it on themselves if they were born there, too. Plus, it'd make the whole redemption aspect more of a problem of semantics, and it wouldn't need ~2 seasons to figure out how it'd work. Because it wouldn't really be redemption but rather "winning." That'd make Pentious a "Winner." It makes the whole "society decides winners and losers" thing more earned. It makes Pentious the exemption that proves the rule, since he scored enough good boy points by sacrificing himself despite his nature. You might be wondering if this is circular since it just reintroduces the conflict to a different setting, or what the point of changing it would be. But this change in context makes it easier for people to accept that these characters can rise above their station and "be good" despite or even because of themselves. We're not asked to accept that rapists, murderers, and cannibals should go a place that people (like their victims) earned the right to enter when they were alive, in ways that the series just ignores because it doesn't want to think about that.
