Watching the season finale like I said I would this weekend. So far vox's song is catchy even if the man himself was a petty jealous prick who couldn't handle being a weather man while every one around him was more successful. The animation especially on that cannon thing blasting heaven is impressive, and Emily remains the only character I can't harbor contempt for.
 
Does anyone know where this sadboy narrative of Alastor being a put-upon victim of racial discrimination comes from? We never see that in the show and the mulattoes in Louisiana were not particularly bad off by the standards of the time (and from what we see in the show, it looks like Alastor almost completely passed in white upper society).

Is this just some fujo fanfiction to justify being horny for a serial killer?

I can barley belive i live in a world where that's been a thing long before the half tar baby, alastor existed...and for irl serial killers no less.

That one scene in his backstory where a white rich man accidentally spilt some of his wine on Alastor. Sure, he noticed that he did afterwards and didn't apologize, so kind of a douche here. But this by no means proves the man was racist.

And while I'm not the biggest fan of Vox's backstory of him also being a serial killer, at least the show gives us a motive into who and why he was killing them. With Alastor, you get the one guy he killed and then a bunch of corpses in his house in the next shot. That's not a lot to go by into who he targets. Does he specifically target white rich men because he's a bit prejudice and sees all of them as his oppressor? Does he kill when someone treats him with not the utmost respect that he thinks he deserves regardless of race, gender, or age? Or is it all by random choice? I don't know. Anyone of these motives could work or something completely different that you think up even. There's no right or wrong answer here cause the show doesn't bother to delve into what drove Alastor to be a serial killer.
 
You know the ending where all the sinners giving energy ro stop Vox wouldn't have people asking "wait why is the energy of good vibes or whatever, coming from killers, rapists, and other vile people if we saw sinners in hell only down there because they were atheists who didn't believe the whole heaven hell thing in life but aside that tried to be good people.


Which also could have really helped Charlie's cause. I think someone who ended up in a world where you can be plucked off the street and turned into a prostitute, porn star, or drug addict simply cause you died thinking, "Jesus was just a man and the universe was created purley by random cosmic forces that lead to the formation of earth all by sheer chance." Would very much like to take that all back if it meant getting a chance to stay in the good place.

Honestly it really just boils down to fujo fanfiction, or at least fanfiction in general. I'm pretty sure that before Alastor was turned half black because Viv just really wanted to keep those voodoo symbols, a ton of them tried to wave away the whole serial killer thing by having it so that his father was abusive, so that means he somehow can't be fully blamed for his actions because he's a somehow still a victim.

Given Alastor is the S3 antagonist, I'll be shocked if we don't get a second flashback, and as much as I hope that it will shootdown all the common fan theories to give him a potential excuse that parts of the fandom cling onto, I have my doubts that will happen, especially since S2 surprisingly humanized the Vees to its credit.

Plus, if Hell isn't permanent, why wouldn't those in Heaven want to rescue people who were just wrong, and not malignant?

This came about because Val had the moment where it showed he does care about/ love Vox. That he put enough meaning in their relationship to be genuinely hurt by Vox's neglect and abuse later.

They can't conceive of a bad guy who does bad things ever also being capable of having a good emotion. They can't allow for any gray in their stories. Only black and white. Only cartoonishly evil or goodboy who never hurt no one.

Val can't be a rapist and then go value his situationship of decades. because then they would have one point of relatability with the rapist, which basically makes them a rapist.

I actually think she should go for it. Redeem Val. I want to see the rage.

I see a lot of people excuse some of the show flaws because it has 8 episodes, but those 8 episodes are 20-30 minutes long, the only reason the pacing seems off its purely a writer issue, the show has too many characters and half of them are useless and could benefit the story by not existinģ, but the show wants to give them songs and a bit of backstory when its not necessary.
 
Remember all those reviews that complained S2 had way too much Heaven and not enough Angel Dust? And the "too much" ended up being a single episode and maybe fifteen additional minutes all told, whereas Angel had two-and-a-half episodes dedicated to him?
We need to stop letting fujos write for entertainment articles.

I think people are just ok with it being flawed. I don't think anyone or enough people to matter think hazbin hotel is a cultural marvel that will be talked about and studied for hundreds of years like lord of the rings.

Its slop to pick apart because it's good enough to be enjoyable while shitty enough to say " hey dat don't make no sense" and make fun of it.

It also has probably the best animation of any modern western production. That rotation shot in the S2 finale had more effort put into it than some Disney Renaissance films. Having a show that isn't the same level of Family Guy-tier non-movement does a lot.

Now that I think about it, why didn't they just have Alastor make his deal with Lucifer? Not only would it explain Alastor's power, it would also explain why he has to work for Lucifer's daughter.

You would think the show would dive more into where Alastor got his misanthropic views from. I'm not saying he should have died in the Holocaust or something like thst. Just do more to flesh out his backstory so you understand why he believes people can't be redeemed.

tbf Lucifer in this version doesn't seem like a guy who makes deals or interacts with humans at all.

The common theories are that Rosie is either Lilith or is somehow connected to her. And in the shows defense, if one of the theories comes true it would make sense why Rosie can make such a deal.

You guys think that Lute will use the Lilith is in heaven against Charlie? I mean it's impressive that neither her or Adam spilled the beans inorder to mock Charlie.
