It's annoying that Alastor is probably my favorite character in the show and his voice actor is the most condescending and insufferable of the bunch

I knew him from the Kung Fu Panda TV spin off in which he voiced Crane, a couple of Nickelodeon TV movies, and that's about it. Now he's currently in that Wizards of Waverly Place sequel, coincidentally as a character named Alistair. To emphasize how unknown he is, when announcing he was going to be in Hazbin in 2021, many speculated he was going to play Angel Dust due to lack of knowledge of his theater roles. His performance as Bert Healy wasn't brought into discussion until like a year or so before he was officially confirmed playing Alastor.

Ed's a good rapper; maybe they can have Alastor rap for future seasons? Seriously though, he did do that collab with Silva Hound and Gabe a few years back, and he sounded... adequate enough for the style RadioPlay was going for, although that's not exactly the kind of music that Alastor associates himself with. Best case scenario, they get Ed back, and have Seth Atkinson be Alastor's singing voice. Just heard about this recently, but apparently Seth was supposed to sing as Alastor in the pilot before getting replaced by Gabe.

Hell, I think a scene of a Sinner slowly and painfully regenerating would have been a good way to show why a Sinner wouldn't want to be killed even if they can come back. Hey, sacrifices had to be made. I mean, how else were they going to have room to fit in super important stuff like having 2 musical numbers per episode or introducing such vital characters like Mimzy?

Imagine having an entire video to justify the most milquetoast take of "Yeah, it's cringe but I like it". Bottom of the toilet tier confidence

PS: I don’t mean it's a bad opinion- that's qctually pretty based reply, but having entire video for one sentence length of info is just embarrassing. Next on our list is hour long documentary on why liking pineapples on pizza is alright, like bruh, wtf

They robbed us of so many cameos, such as the staff being able to talk, which was one if not my favorite element connected to him. His overall design is not perfect, but the character was fantastic.

See this is why I can't for the life of me see pilot Alastor and series Alastor as the same person, pilot Alastor made several jokes in his short screen time such as making fun of the 1929 Wall Street crash and the orphans it caused, whereas I can't think of one time Alastor makes a joke in the series proper, he's just constantly "Look at me and how powerful I am!"

I said before it's fine if it's eventually revealed he has a pretty fragile ego with massively inflated views on himself, especially as more powerful demons and angels get involved in the plot (Hell it's admittedly realistic for that to be the case given that's extremely common with serial killers) but the issue is that he's constantly like that, and given what we know of S2, he's going to be several times more insufferable in that regard.

Imagine if Alastor was shown to be almost unflappable like how he was in the pilot, with very few things remotely getting under his skin or catching him off guard and even then it's only for a moment, but then we get the scene where Husk talks shit about having his soul owned by someone else and that's the first time we truly see his mask fall off, then it's back to business as usual, that would be a lot more interesting then what we got.

They pretty much did that to everyone, though.

Charlie went from a sweet and hopeful character that nonetheless had a backbone (and a bit of a dark edge) to a wimpy naive Disney Princess clone.

Vaggie went from a supportive but rational friend with a bit of a hot mean streak to a perpetually grumpy block of wood who's only attribute is "Charlie's girlfriend."

Angel Dust went from the wise-cracking sarcastic mafioso with a deviant side he indulges in too much to the obnoxious gay spider demon that wants to fuck everyone.

And so on and so on...

It doesn't help that show is failing at what it is trying to do. Remember, canonically, he has taken down countless of overlords and put their "screams" in his radio waves. Sure, he got his immense power to do by having his soul owned by someone else, but nobody knows that (except for Husk, though I don't know how he knows).
 
My family has been using Amazon Prime for the past few weeks and I don't think I'll ever get used to seeing them scroll past Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss in the recommended section any time they want to watch something. There is an uncanny feeling of dissonance seeing a show I used to like years ago back when it was only enjoyed by terminally online people appearing on my family's TV.
