Let's be honest, we have many shows that made Viv seethe hard: Lackadaisy being 2d animated during the Prohibition era, Digital Circus being mindfucky and doing some disturbing shit, Gaslight District being a more interesting depiction of Lovecraft/Hell meets Heaven stuff and now the upcoming Knights show.

I wonder what Viv's reputation would be if she didn't sell Hazbin out to A24 and Jeff Bezos, turning her back on all the independent animators and throwing all the VAs who both killed it in their roles and went the extra mile by going on podcasts to keep interest up in the process because she was obsessed with broadway, transform Helluva from a fairly good show into something straight out of the mind of the average fujo, then finally sell Helluva out to Jeff Bezos because she really wanted crossover episodes.

In 2019-2021 people gave her a ton of credit for what she did to the indie animation scene, now very few of her colleges and former coworkers will actually speak positively about her, with most only remaining silent out of professionalism, and GLITCH have been the ones carrying the torch for indie animation for at least the past two years or so.

Guy A gets a call from Guy B wanting sex. Guy A says he's at work and can't fo it now. Guy B proceeds to show up at Guy's A workplace unannounced a few minutes later. Guy A says he can't now and that he doesn't want to cause a scene as there are coworkers here. Guy B responds with "you didn't mind making a scene last time", as if accidentally dropping in on people having breakfast is the same as purposely having sex in the room next to a place where people are working. Guy B continues to "seduce" Guy A, making a mess on Guy A's work desk. Guy A is about to protest once again, but decides it's much easier to fuck Guy B on the desk quickly to get rid of him so he doesn't have to deal with him for the rest of the day.

This may not be rape, but it's still pretty shitty as it shows Guy B doesn't take Guy's A original "no" seriously and will continue to press on until Guy A gives him what he wants. This is also not mentioning the power imbalance Guy B has over Guy A.

There's nothing wrong with Viv wanting Broadway actors, the problem is how she wasn't upfront about it, acting like her replacing the pilot VAs was the result of the show getting picked up, and double down by insisting that getting Broadway actors was always the plan. I've followed Viv a little over a year before the full pilot was released, and while I've seen a fair bit of criticisms of her work here and there, it's nowhere as prevalent as it is nowadays. Season 1 of Helluva Boss was well received, people didn't feel the need to knock either show down in comparison to other indie pilots being released, and even when Hazbin got picked up by a network, Viv wasn't seen as a sellout as A24 was a company known for creative freedom and never did animation prior. Then the recasts happened, resulting in a downward spiral because you know what was the first Helluva Boss episode that came out after that? [Shhh, we don't talk about Black Gryph0n] The Circus. Then the rest is self explanatory.

The power imbalance is so extreme that Blitzo is effectively a prostitute/sex slave and we know he is terrified of losing the book so how much choice does he really have here? Every time Stolas "asks" something it comes with the implication. If blitzo was a women saying no this becomes obviously creepy and fucked up but it's yaoi so it's gay and true love.

Either way i like the idea of Vivzie trying really hard to detoxify this relationship and accidentally making Stolas the world's most polite rapist.

Like, if a homeless person asks for spare change 20 times then you finally say "okay here" and give him a dollar, that doesn't mean he robbed you.

If anything the thing that would make the situation less-than-consensual would be the massive power imbalance between the characters, not the fact they had sex after pestering.

The fact is that while Mission Zero could have been consensual, what happens in Murder Family is definitely. Stolas makes a sex deal with Blitzø, seeing that he is being hunted down by someone who can kill him. He can't be that stupid not knowing that Blitzø is in serious danger and can't exactly have a full on discussion about the deal. At the very least, it shows he has little respect for Blitzø's job and can't even let him finish his work.

And that's something that the show is never going to call out on Stolas: how for the longest time he has shown very little respect towards Blitzø. He said in Full Moon "Blitzø, I think so highly of you" , but he for the majority of time hasn't shown that. He only started giving Blitzø space after the Ozzie's episode, but it was mainly for his own self so he could process his own feelings; not for Blitzø's. And then in the Sinsmas episode he starts acting especially stuck-up towards Blitzø. This doesn't show someone who cares for another's feeling. It's really showing someone who doesn't return his care unless he's receiving affection first.

It's funny how such of the fandom calls Stella rapist because of one line she says in The Circus, but completely ignore all the shit Stolas was doing in S1. Really the fandom just as much as the show treats characters incredibly hypocritically, because almost all of remaining fans are Tumblrites who live off Tumblr Sexyman/Reader fanfictions, the Yaoi obsessed who are just like Viv, and children (many times literally) who think 'Cursing=Funny', although most of these will fit squarely in the middle of a Venn diagram. The folks who liked the shows in 2019-2022 thanks to Hazbin's pilot and Helluva's first season are long gone, and they're not coming back (Most of this thread seems to fall into this category, including me).

One thing I've noticed from Mission Zero, is that most fans (and even some critics) are praising the episode for not having Blitzø call Moxxie retarded and I'm like...do they not realize the joke they replaced that with is actually worse? Blitzø pretty much said that he would blame Moxxie if he committed suicide. How is this any better? Yeah, it might suck to be called retarded, but I'd rather be called that then being told I'm the reason so-and-so is killing themselves.

It was already confirmed that Vox and Val were in an on-again-off-again relationship, so having Vel be in the middle of it just seemed to fit.
