I'm pretty sure Alastor is supposedly Creole, but it would be far too gutsy of Viv to show that Al loathed the gays when he was alive like 99% of people back then even if he doesn't give a shit for the present day.
EDIT: On that note she'd probably make him the victim of racism or some shit, even though Creole people were treated equally to whites in Louisiana and full blacks weren't treated nearly as bad compared to states like Georgia and Alabama.

Exactly. While I've heard that Alastor has long been officially declared "asexual", I have no idea what that means to these people, pretty sure that they even have conflicting definitions. Sometimes it is said that an "ace" can be romantic and have sexual attraction, but just thinks the act of sex itself is icky. At the same time, I believe some say that an "ace" actually can be sexually active as well, which is just outright perplexing. It also seems to me that self-ascribed "aces" are contradictorily very obsessed with sex, hence their proud place under the sex-obsessed "LGBT" umbrella.

Consider this well-known point of comparison: I take the titular character of the popular BBC show Sherlock to be the quintessential asexual character, apparently devoid of any romantic or sexual interest with either women or men. Yet at the same time, his platonic relationship with John Watson is the main theme through the entire show, spurring a very popular non-canon gay ship among fans to such an immense degree that the show might be the foremost recipient of "queerbaiting" accusations. I'm sure many of these hardcore fujo shippers at the time are now adherent followers of the queer cult, yet it seems that they never had serious consideration for Sherlock's apparent asexuality to put aside their salacious desire to see dudes make out.

So sure, maybe Alastor is "asexual" in some fashion. But it's still possible for a relationship with Charlie to be a big part of the show such that it gives fuel to fanshipping outside of it. I'd even say that the pilot already at least gives Alastor a sense of romantic flair, given his singing and dancing with her. In response, I can certainly see angered fans slapping down the naturally-emerging Charlie/Alastor ship by pointing to Alastor's God-declared "asexuality", but I get a feeling that this angle attack is more to mask their trendy heterophobia while they instead prefer to make another gay ship between Alastor and that TV-head guy.

I just find this hanging question about Charlie and Alastor to be a particularly interesting one because this sort of ship between the female main character and the "bad boy" used to be the hottest thing among female audiences (e.g., Twilight, Fifty Shades), but now it might be considered haram.

Regarding Charlie/Alastor, I don't even want to see that even outside of Vaggie. I do think that Charlie should be overly trusting of Alastor, but she shouldn't fall for his schemes hook, line, and sinker. She knows who he is, a cannibalistic sadistic murderer who makes it crystal clear he just wants to see her plan fall flat on its face to get a laugh at the expense of others.

I'd like to see the start of the series having them not like one another in the slightest, Charlie not being nearly as vocal about her dislike of Alastor as Vaggie is because she's Charlie, but still makes it clear she only allows him to be around because kind of needs his help, and Alastor loathes Charlie because she's a naive wide-eyed idealist who doesn't fit in with Hell's society at all.

Making Alastor a friendlier being overall throughout the series, slowly but surely, in conjunction with Charlie understanding that while people can better themselves, they cannot change who they are entirely, is not only
Writing 101 in Character Development, but it's practically a cheat to gain positive feedback from audiences.

Wanting to see the relationship between two important characters who aren't in a gay one explored even at a surface level in this show is like asking for the scorpion to not sting the frog as they're going across a river.

I don't think Viv has enough relationship experience to pull that off. She's flunking gay homoeroticism, which she has more experience with (albeit, only from reading yaoi)

The thing is, regardless of romance, Charlie's dynamic with Alastor is more interesting than whatever she has with any of the other characters. They're foils to each other with their contrasts of optimism and cynicism as well as light (thematically speaking for Charlie) and darkness, which is one of the reasons why people ship them. Viv would sooner die than break up Charlie and Vaggie, so it won't go beyond anything other than a reluctant partnership turned friendship. That said, how well it'll be written remains to be seen, and we know how incompetent Viv is at writing.

I have a colleague, known him for 15+ years. He's 58 now. He's what they would have called asexual before the alphabet crew made it a fetish. Has no attraction to women or men, doesn't understand himself why but isn't bothered by it, has a libido to some extent. Has fielded questions on why he's single since hitting puberty. He hates the alphabet people and does not want to be associated with them. Whenever I hear 'asexual' I think of him. Then, sadly, I think of all the dating profiles in the tranny sideshow thread and the fact asexual means 'suck my girldick' and 'fondle my rotdog' now.

The pilot showed Charlie was smart enough to not make a deal with Alastor, but instead used her authority as Hell's princess to order him in helping with the hotel. We shall see if that carries over into the main series or gets retconned because as the top comment on this video regarding Helluva Boss said
