With this whole "lead character " business, does anyone know what their exact definition of a "lead character" is? I would assume that they mean they are the character that drives the story forward, or that story revolves around. But it really doesn't matter, they're just splitting hairs. A main character and a lead character, if you wanting define them that way, are basically the same.
For instance, you could say Ash was the lead character of Pokemon, as the entire series follows him(as far as I know). But then when you have Team Rocket be in nearly every single episode they are basically an integral part of the series, and, even if they're not technically leads, they have just as much importance in the series as Ash does.
Sadly, if Black or Goldstein were to read this, they would just say,"ha you said they weren't leads WE WIN PEWPEW!!!"
