Indeed. As much as we joke about it, a small interview with Hayden would prove rather interesting.
I mean, I can accept the show just being unfunny and pandering to Tumblr and having a small budget. It's a thing that happens.
The thing is ...is it just a show that misses the mark with a bit too much self-confidence, or a terrible attempt to capitalize on Tumblr culture? I am genuinely curious.
 
Hayden has described Gen Zed as "a cross between Spaced and The Young Ones". He's either worryingly naive or incredibly arrogant, and I think I can guess which.
 
I've watched The Young Ones (big fan of Britcoms, but it wasn't really for me) and it looks fucking nothing like this.
 
I'm starting to get worried about the cross-contamination that's happening. Assigned Male, Manic Pixie Nightmare Girls, now Gen Zed have all made contact...

We may be in for one hell of a plague.

Does he get that the whole point of The Young Ones was that every character was absolutely repulsive? You weren't supposed to sympathize with them. At least not most of the time. Vyvyan was probably the least awful of them and he was a psychotic monster.
