Ya know. There's the whole line of Uncle John's books specifically made to be time-killer books while you're taking a fat shit. Generally speaking, bathroom books are trivia or short story books. Something you can kill a LOT of time with, but not have to worry about being able to put down.

Few of my more... ahem richer friends have small magazine racks in their toilets complete with a few glossy magazines so that if they or guests require to use the bathroom for a bit they have something to entertain themselves with.

Field & Stream magazine, in my experience is almost exclusively a toilet book. I'm not sure I've ever seen a copy outside a bathroom in fact.

He's not really genderqueer so much as ambiguously gay, and it's mostly played for laughs. Japan doesn't really have the weird hangups Americans do regarding this shit. Stuff that would be considered offensive here is just kinda fine there.
