So, I didn't bother posting in this when it first started up, largely because I was sure it would die an ignominious death.

However, here we are.

Is there a specific point where the originator of this retarded scheme has actually been caught out operating this as a scam, or is a merch list that significantly outnumbers a 'produced episode' list the best we've got at the moment?

There's not been any specific point that shows it's a scam, IIRC. I think it's mostly the constant plugging of merch, and Hayden's evident inability to get a show off the ground.
 
I'm not so sure it's a scam so much as complete anticompetence making it seem like a scam. But maybe I'm just being optimistic.

The 'scam' accusations are because of the merch, but also because the release date keeps being pushed back further and further.
There's also the small fact that the creator's previous business ventures landed him in trouble with the Tax Board.

Most of us don't think it's an outright scam, but rather a particularly incompetent attempt at making cash with a shit-tier product. Only unlike most scammers, they don't think their product is shitty.

It's been established that Hayden (the showrunner) is completely delusional about his own talent, so he actually believes Gen zed is a great idea and thought it would be a success with the Tumblr and the SJW crowd.
So of course it's a cash grab, but I think they originally intended to create an actual show- one that would be a smash hit and bring Hayden the fame, money and awards he thinks his talent deserves.
 
Well, there doesn't seem to be much new in the "new" trailer, so I don't see much to discuss. Hayden is the only new material here, since he gets more tard by day.

It's like a child's game of make believe.

The major make believe part is they have corporate sponsors and product placements.

Hayden Black is the sort of hip, counterculture guy who literally has wet dreams about corporate sponsorship.

There's the fact that YouTube explicitly pulled their trailer on the grounds of spamming/scamming.

They generally do this for purchasing fake views.

Most of their Twitter followers are also fake, as twitteraudit showed.

I wouldn't say that. We dug up a lot of stuff about the show's creator, someone actually went and managed to film one of their con panels and the showrunners regaled us with frequent chimpouts.
The show itself is shit, but the people behind it are pretty entertaining.

The guy who made Gen Zed is pretty much a lolcow in his own right, and even when this show dies he'll probably find new and interesting ways to embarrass himself.

Have they (or rather the poor fucker they got to draw this) animated anything else, I'm saying its a scam (not for this reason anyway) but I'm starting to think Black has only commissioned the trailer footage and that's all.
 
Could Hayden be trying to emulate gamer culture? He must have heard about Mountain dew and Doritos memes from America Online and instead of pandering to turmblr he's pivoting to gam3rs now.

In other news, how hard would you guys laugh if Frito-Lay bitchsmacked Hayden for the plug? Coke did it to Chris, who was only doing it out of homophobia; Hayden is doing it to mostly lie about his chances.
