The impression I got from the Ivy Q&A was that his poots were always a problem, but got worse after graduation. After all, Chris was probably mostly at ease in high school, calm enough to sleep through class.

As for seeing his former gal pals with rings on their fingers, possibly with stories of having had children - Oh, goodness, we're talking about a chocolate gravy thunder-blast from Pantyville in that case. I mean, in one evening, Chris would discover:

1. Everyone moved on without a single care about him

2. Not one of his gal pals ever thought to keep him up-to-date about their lives (see #1 above)

3. Men, his most hate of enemies, got all the pretty girls leaving him with none

4. Life has passed him by, but has (presumably) benefited them

5. There's no chance of him getting with them at all

6. He was never a serious contender for their affections to begin with

7. One of his few remaining hopes for happiness or friendships would be shattered beyond repair.

I mean, were they the kind of girls who could have him at the lunch table but would make fun of him afterwards? Or did they just let everything kind of roll off their shoulders, like "out of sight, out of mind"? It makes me wonder if one of them could've tried to suggest changes in his life that things may be different now, kind of like how some of the trolls tried to help?

If you read Chris's "Week in the life" school assignment it looks like he had classes with them as well. Given it was home ec but they did seem cool with him for whole class periods as opposed to just lunch. Also greens made him green.
