Mine is Alfred Kinsey but, golly, I don't know... Who's my favorite? There's just so many to choose from! I mean, we have Magnus Hirschfield who was a pioneer Jewish Sexologist advocating openly for gender fluidity and homosexuality from as early as 1919 (but those terrible Nazis burned up his work and encouraged violence against him and like-minded sexologists!). He was also part of the first sex change operation to transplant a woman's womb into a man!
Sure, the patient died, but like, affirmed much?
Then there's the marvelous Alfred Kinsey, father of the Sexual Revolution and dubbed "Man with the Most Charming Smile" by me. I'm a big fan.
His work from the 1950's, as funded by the Rockefeller Foundation and other wonderful philanthropists, helped to spur on scientific fraud and abuse research which would alter American public school curriculum, scientific and psychological studies and even irrevocably change American legal code forever! His study into childhood sexuality was particularly interesting, including the data he collected from MAPs (who were cruelly imprisoned!) and the discouragement of the bigoted idea that youths "suffer" from romantic relationships with adults--something the founding daddies (lol ikr lmao jk) of the Gay Rights movement themselves openly taught! Such prescience! Such bravery in a time riddled with bigotry and hatred!
Larry Kramer has so much DRIP in this picture~
Kinsey's work changed America and later the entire world, but he wasn't the only one. Many came after him. How could we forget the successor to Hirschfield in the eponymous John Money, key figure both studied and lauded the same as the other names listed here even to this day (and who has a thread but I can't find it), and his great success story of the first transgender child in America, Brenda Reimer!
I don't know what this text says, I don't speak ethnic, but I'm sure it's praising Dr. Money.
But hey, don't let all the boys have the spotlight! Let's not forget that we have legends of the LGBT+++ crew among us today, like the awesome Doctor Kathy Rumer, a leading special surgeon in Gender Reassignment Surgery. She's a true friend to transfolk and non-cishets everywhere!
QUEEN SLAY~!
TL;DR I just don't know who's my favorite, but if I had to pick it would be one of these, most likely Dr. Kinsey for really helping to reignite a flame that many thought died under the persecution and bigotry common under the oppression of anti-science organized religion, especially Christianity. Plus, he even has a bow tie like my favorite Doctor Who!
Thanks for making a thread where we could be open and proud about the heroes of our age, Null! And don't worry, even if you had continued to avoid this subject--it will never avoid you. It refuses to be avoided. It will never leave any of us alone, and every attempt at granting it ground so it can stay away only feeds its desire to gain more ground, reaching ever outward with the twitching tendrils of exposed flesh pulsating with the anarchic ideals of self-obsessesion to normalize itself beyond pangs of conscience and subsume all that would reflect back to it its true visage.
...Like pet octopus! So cute.
