Habbo is basically a site where you can chat with people, you may know this site from the "pool is closed due to aids" raids, but that's long gone now and I doubt anything in that scale will happen again.

So what makes Habbo different from all the chatting games? I've played Habbo since 2008 and I am well aware of their sub-cultures, one sub-culture lies in the [Friends] category of the navigator, I refer to them as the "18+ people", basically they are a bunch of female and male teenagers, who mostly spring from Tumblr, talking about stuff.

Now here's where it gets interested, most 18+ people know each other, and they have this interconnected network of friends, most of them know each other's Skypes, Kiks, etc., Some people "expose" these people, as in, they get nudes of females, and they spread it throughout these rooms, mostly with Instagram pages and such.

There have been millions of Habbo sites dedicated to exposing people. One person even got the personal information of another and sent him to jail.

There are also "fansites," which are basically sites created by users to discuss Habbo. There is an in-game forum, but these are for the individual groups. The most popular (in my opinion) is HFFM.
Its forum can be found here: http://www.hffmforum.co.uk/

There are many different other subcultures, each, interestingly, with its own ideals, culture and whatnot, however, the [Friends] category is the most interesting.

Something I forgot to mention is that the subculture I was referring to is riddled with wannabe hackers. Unfortunately, these wannabe hackers do act on their threats. They pay for DDoS services, they get IP addresses mainly through resolving Skype usernames.

I'm not sure about this.. Habbo was pretty lulz back in the days, but as @grilledcheesesandwich said, I'm surprised it's still around.. That Tumblr culture shit is spread to a lot of different sites.. Maybe you could provide more evidence at how "lulzy" these subcultures are, and tell us about the other subcultures besides the leakage from Tumblr.

I used to play Habbo regularly back in 2008 or 2009. It was pretty entertaining to troll, because all you had to do was block off certain areas and the users would be LIVID. Literally, if they couldn't "sing" on the fake stage, they'd throw fits. I played it again recently, and it's gotten really boring.

I remember the confusing layout of people's rooms and apartments and then quitting the game a week later.

It was basically Dollhouse Simulator but with tons of microtransactions.

I was one of the habbo raid niggers. Of course that was eight years ago and in retrospect it was pretty lame epic lulz etc. whatever. I'm surprised the site still exists.

Habbo changed the pool, you can't block it anymore & IIRC the duck is gone too.

If you like observing the community there, you'd probably really enjoy a game called Furcadia. It's basically an old old Habbo but for furries.

Is there going to be a Gaia Online thread too?
