Still Ireland's neutrality is of the freeloader sort. Sweden and Finland were armed neutrals pre NATO. Ireland went from c 20k in the 70s (six figures during WW2 / The Emergency)to maybe 9k now inc reserves. The Air Corps has no fighters and barely supports the Naval Service, which is severely undermanned.Ireland is a marginal power where the main value comes from being a tax haven for corporations within the EU. Uncle Sam sure as shit doesn't care if Ireland is in or not; because they are to put it bluntly, completely irrelevant in foreign affairs. Britain likely would veto the idea anyways and it likely wouldn't be a popular idea within Ireland who would rather go teetotal than fight WITH the British in any war.
