It's not fun at all and it's monetized out the ass. Literally just OW with a dumb Gundam skin. People have been wanting a western MP Gundam game for years and we get this unfun, predatory garbage.

To each their own. While i agree that spending 40 usd to get the locked gundams is retarded i think the base gundams are all you need anyways. If they want the game to stay alive they do need to add more meaningful content like game modes and maps. All things considered its the most complete FTP game that I've recently played

i tried it, i feel like it's alright at best and it's gonna be dead by like december. i've had a couple fun matches but man, it really feels like matchmaking seems to put you against nothing but elite discord squadrons while it's me and one friend queueing up. i haven't even tried ranked matchmaking yet and i don't really think i want to. the community seems kinda pathetic since one of the more popular guides for the game on steam appears to be written by a tard wrangler and tells you to do basic things you should have learned back when you were like 11, like drinking water and trying to have fun playing the game.

It looks a heck of a lot better then battle operation 2. But ill have to wait till it comes to consoles before I try it.

Really the only thing that bothers me is how oddball the line up is. It is primarily UC, but the unit choices are all over the place. I am by no means a wing fan , but its frankly surprising to not to see any representatives. Also some units appear to be missing weapons they should have, like Exia's beam gun and the GM's sabers.

Its hilarious how Seed's lone unit is a Dom expy that is effectively identical to the UC version. ( I hate seed)

I actually didn't realize the Dom was the Seed version because I've never watched Seed. That's kind of funny. Putting them side by side the Seed one is a bit chunkier and that's it.
Either way I think the game having weird picks for suits is fine. Ideally there'd be at least one rep from each major series and I'm guessing they're gonna try and do that eventually. Gameplay wise, I've been enjoying it more than Overwatch but that's a very low bar.

One thing I think they could do at least is add some kind of quick melee button. I've had several situations where I run out of ammo and my opponent has like a sliver of health that I can't do anything about so he gets to run away or kill me. It doesn't have to do a lot of damage, like seriously even like 20 or 30 would fine and on a brief cooldown. It just needs to be a thing.

That's totally fair, I'm not begrudging you having fun so sorry if it came off like that. I just don't like blatant copy and paste games and Gundam Evolution is 100% that. I was hoping more for something where you can do TDM, missions, etc. Customize your load outs, fight for Neo Zeon or Londo Bell or whatnot.

I appreciate them putting in the Sazabi, which is my all time favorite Gundam, but it feels like ass in the game honestly and the gun/axe combo feels really weak and the shield is gone in seconds. That's just a nitpick on my part though, I uninstalled and doubt I'll be picking it back up again simply because I burned out on Team Fortress by itself and thats all OW was, just with weeb coomers.

I am by no means defending Evolution because I don't particularly care for it myself, and neither did I particularly like BO2 for that matter, but Evolution and Battle Operation 2 are two very different games with two entirely different gameplay styles.

The reason why Evolution's roster is so questionable is because Evolution is trying to be Overwatch. Thus, they use an eclectic array of mobile suits to fulfill certain roles and even handicap their weapon loadouts to fit whatever intended role/class that particular mobile suit is meant to fulfill within the vein of a class-based "competitive" shooter.

It's literally a matter of apples and oranges. Plus, Evolution gives no shits about sticking to the canonicity of each mobile suit.

Otherwise, Turn A could just Moonlight Butterfly over a map and kill literally everyone.

Before I talk about Gundam Evolution, I have to mention that I have only played Team Fortress 2, Global Agenda, and Tribes: Ascend. Never touched Overwatch. So, I mostly compare Gundam Evolution to the games I played. Both TF2 and GA suffered from players who were "frag-minded" or players who thought every mode was deathmatch with no other objectives. Gundam Evolution suffers from the same thing with the addition of "I get to name myself after something Gundam related and pilot a mobile suit like a retard"
Same thing in GBO2 but GBO2 has a bunch of other playerbase issues.
So you get xXSetsunaFSeieiXx in his Exia (that he spent big monies to get the legendary unit skins for) trying to play like some eSports pro but just gives the enemy team G-Maneuver meter and dies away from the objective. Casual games are almost unplayable and ranked is wide open to the same shit.

Ranked was a mess right out of the gate since the game was unstable. Three of my five placement matches were against premade teams of at least 4. I won one because Dom Trooper's G-Maneuver can save a game. The other two were disconnect losses. Since I play solo, I basically got stuck in bronze until ranked was fixed. I'm on my way to platinum but the players are not getting better and it is annoying because I keep seeing the same players who are the constant in my losses.
It happens in GBO2 as well when you get stuck in a certain rank

Most of the mobile suits are fine as long as your team knows how to deal with them on the enemy's team. The only one that is out of hand is the Exia. If anyone who reads this is considering playing Gundam Evolution or already is but doesn't have the Exia - buy it and play it before it gets adjusted. You can play it only firing its Gundam Evolution exclusive GN Daggers which are 3-burst, main weapon, infinite, with a short cycle between throwing another 3. I may be miscounting, but outside G-Maneuver, the Exia has six dashes (three thrust dashes, Quick Step, Rotating Slash, and Rush & Slash) with Rush & Slash packing a stun if you fully charge it (this needs to be removed). Also, I can't stand the GM Sniper II. Snipers are always an annoyance in games with this kind of pace.

Since this is the only fps I play and it's free, I might keep playing it at the same consistency that I have been since release. The chances of me playing it more will go up if I can get to the ranks where the competent players are. I'm also curious to see the other mobile suits they add and what other adjustments they may make to the game - but, neither of those things require me to play the game.

I prefer GBO2 to Evolution because of obvious reasons like polish and balance. If Evolution stayed more faithful to each mobile suit's loadout, Evolution would just play like a Battle Operation and Extreme VS hybrid (which would be interesting). Gundam Online stayed faithful to each suit's purpose and design but the repair aspect is always something players have to ignore. The Turn A's Moonlight Butterfly is supposed to be its last ditch move so it gets the G-Maneuver spot.
Along with the Mahiroo, both surprised me with being added to the roster. The Turn A is kind of dinky. I play strategically aggressive so I do my best to use my kit (throwing people off Harbor point B is hilarious). The best part of it is the Moonlight Butterfly of course. The Mahiroo's grenades are alright. They're good enough to be pesky but that's really it. Toroidal Shield is buggy and overall not fun to use. It freezes you in place when you're firing the beam. Best to use if the enemy is unaware or constantly barging through choke points The G-Maneuver absolutely sucks. I think the volley blast radius goes down when you activate it because they don't do shit. Mahiroo is really only good if you're constantly fighting at choke points or are on defense.

I appreciate them putting in the Sazabi, which is my all time favorite Gundam, but it feels like ass in the game honestly and the gun/axe combo feels really weak and the shield is gone in seconds.
I like the Sazabi, too. If my team has a Unicorn Gundam or Methuss and no tank, I'll play Sazabi. You can afford to leave your shield down more if you have heals and I find Sazabi a lot more enjoyable with that kind of support. If I see someone else playing Sazabi and we have heals, I'll play Dom Trooper to really make the Sazabi a problem. On its own, Sazabi can 1v1 just about anything in the game thanks to that shot rifle. Surprise axes are also satisfying to land.

Quick melee would be a cool addition but it would have to be exclusive if they added it. Exia with another melee option would put it beyond broken at this point. An addition I'd like to see is changing the mobile suit's loadout. An example would be the RX-78 with its beam javelin and vulcans as options. Or the Sazabi can use its other beam rifle. Those customizations could change the way a mobile suit plays. Changing loadout could also modify the mobile suit's movement speed/gauge (3 dash down to 2 and vice versa)/health/etc. It could be an effective way to add variations to the game.

You'll at least be getting a more polished Gundam Evolution. I don't recommend comparing Gundam Evolution to GBO2. They are completely different games. As for weapons, I don't know who was in charge of the choices but not only are some things not an option, some non-canon weapons are in the game. The Exia doesn't have GN Daggers as far as I know. Pale Rider doesn't have a repair pod or grenades. Like I said further up in my post, if they kept it closer to the source material, they'd have a GBO2/Extreme VS hybrid. The Dom Trooper is actually a solid mobile suit in Evolution and I also don't like Seed.

It's a free game and the year is 2022. The general playerbase is going to be retarded. Ranked is a little better than casual but I'm mid Gold. Before they reset the ranks, I was on teams full of beauty parlor tard babies. I still get tard babies on my ranked teams, though. At best in this game, most people's brains are only good for one round of ranked play. If you win, for some reason they think they can take round 2 off or play a suit they are bad with. Or you get teams that just chase the enemy around the entire match and let them occupy the objectives. It was the same stuff I encountered in TF2 and GA over a decade ago.

Just buy the Exia.

I cant play exia to save my life. Its weapon throws me off i dont really jell with it. I prefer to play both zaku 2s.

When will they add the best Gundam?

@Baby Cakes Exia's got GN daggers. That's been used in the show and the games.

As for grenades, that's a common thing Feddie suits have in the videogames despite never really being used in the shows.

I thought those were just beam sabers since I they were too long to be daggers. Oh well. I'm aware of grenade use in Gundam games but they''re usually just standard grenades.

I love this game because I am autistic. My biggest complaint is the ranged Zaku II G Maneuver is a massive pile of shit compared to the infuriatingly long death cyclone that Zaku II Melee gets. Guess which MS you have to unlock?

Having cleared the S1 pass I'm fairly confident saying that Gevo is going to have a really rocky future if they don't allow players to unlock MS outside of the two currency nodes on the season pass.

It's pretty rough. Some of the most dominant suits are behind premium currency.
