What in the name of fuck is this game's obsession with covering up shoulders of female characters who previously had them exposed? Are we muslim now?

I honest to god hope my man Raven doesnt get added. They'd castrate the poor freak.
Sad how i feel the same way, played raven in xrd as well, love my masochist birdman, i just hope they don't add zappa, please god don't ruin zappa by putting him in strive.

They also announced Robo-Ky

So here's the issue with Jam's new design- it doesn't match her personality. She looks more like a courtesan or someone who runs a library than a chinese food lady.

It fails to tell us crucial details about her character, such as the fact she needs to move quickly just to get orders in and out the door. The skirt itself impedes that process and honestly just lends badly to who she is as a character. Before, designs would actually tell you about people in these games, and now they fail to even do that.

I DESPISE Dizzy's new design, but I am willing to give it a pass simply because she's a queen now and kind of has to dress the part, and that's okay! She looks like a lady who's had a kid and has that gentle feel about her. I will let it pass.

But Jam??? Jam is a mistake. Ky even moreso.

Anyone who likes it is a certified tranny who thinks they pass.

The Bridget retcon and its' consequences

Everything past ACP became watered down shit in favor of bringing "new fans" while ruining the last peak of the 2D front. When Xrd was coming out I had very high hopes and they got shut down after playing the first round. Sammy and ArcSys should've kept all the watered down bullshit to Blaz and kept GG as a pure and hardcore gem that it started as.

I get not everybody's a sweat, but anybody who says they're not dumbing these games down for the lowesr common denominator is just lying. WA as a mechanic was kinda ass but I hate this reasoning so much.

I remember laughing at the design interview about Counter Blitz when he said something like "we felt like brand-new players weren't using it and didn't know when to use it". Like, it doesn't matter how intuitive you make the input, those new players will either 1) forget to use it because there are so many other things going on and 2) use it inappropriately anyway and get played around and die. This was all just big dev cope IMO

Granted, I thought wild assault was hated. But I'm not quite sure why the games are intended to be so simple that literally anyone can play it, and this is done by adding a ton of new mechanics every time. Make more mechanics = more newbies? It is quite annoying that modern fighters are so opposed to players actually learning and improving.

Although I do understand why. As unfortunate as it is, Strive is successful where at least Xrd was not, which was probably because of simplification. So you may as well continue down the path. Maybe I'm oversimplifying, but it seems like Arcsys as a whole are really good at making nice looking button mashers these days.

I'm actually pretty annoyed (if not totally completely unsurprised) with ASW's reasoning behind some of the changes they've made.

Lowpro is the first. In old Gear it used to be that you had something like old Axl 2K and could use that to do the obvious thing of ducking fireballs, but you could also use it as an unorthodox mash on certain buttons that hit higher off the floor. Take Slayer 5K; absolutely nutty button, Slayer wants to press it a lot. But then he runs into an Axl; he's never fought Axl, and now his god button that he can use without thinking much is being played around, and he's gotta work differently in that space or avoid it altogether.

On top of that it made for an unusual anti air in the sense that you shrink down to fuck up their jump in and make it whiff.

ASW sees this though and acts like this tiny interaction and matchup knowledge is too much of an advantage for Axl, as if because it's good against the Slayer 5K it must be too good against 100% of the cast and so they take it away. It's just one, small thing in an ocean of knowledge, but they do this ALL over Strive for EVERY tiny little tidbit and try and excuse it as "well we want every character to behave the exact same way against each character of a particular archrtype". Just feels so homogenous and dumbed down and I have next to no idea who this is for. It's certainly not going to help a new player who they want to retain out of fear of it being too hard, because there's so much more shit a new player needs to prioritize before Axl/Slayer MU 2K vs 5K dynamics even remotely begin to matter.

Anyway, there's more, but you could just apply the same frustration to each thing they change in the name of simplification for this dogshit game. Hurtbox homogenization in the air? Sure, why bother learning your routes, just shave off those little nuances like "Johnny LV2 K Finer drops in the corner on these 3 characters so add a couple filler hits to space yourself out".

You described what i thought from the first moment of picking up strive but couldn't quite put into words. All the characters feel the exact fucking same, they all feel the same in fucking GUILTY GEAR of all games. it's boring as fuck, every single character barring maybe Chipp can kill in two combos and EVERY characters gameplan is the exact same. push to corner, break the wall with super, pressure with passive free super meter and oki into the wall, repeat ad nauseam every single round of every single game with every single goddamn character. why bother playing Slayer? the character whose gimmick was always ludicrous damage when almost every other character hits just as hard if not harder? why bother playing a monkey like Sol when every goddamn character is a monkey. this game was made for the lowest common denominator gameplay wise and made to pander to trannies and faggots with the story.

It's telling that friends i've tried to get into fighting games the last few years just stick to strive, because it's so ludicrously babified and simple. None of the characters have a fucking quarter of the depth they had in the previous games, i mean Jesus Christ look at Baiken, they fucking slaughtered her gameplay. You just have to look at her parry, don't even look at the rest of her raped kit. in Xrd she had FIVE different options out of it, all of which had their own merits on top of an air parry with two different options for a total of seven. now she can no longer air parry on top of them turning the lynchpin of her entire kit into a fire and forget dime a dozen eat attack do damage parry, with no interaction after the fact.

Strive is a dogshit game, made for drooling retards and trannies and any chance of me actually liking this game in the tiniest amount died when they said Bridget is now a tranny, fuck you Arcsys, Bridget's a man and you're not getting another damn dime out of me.

Bridget is now a tranny
Wasn't Bridget's whole thing that he was forced to dress like a girl so he went into bounty hunting because he felt it was a manly thing to do to reaffirm his masculinity? I feel like this is against the whole tranny agenda, to use their language this would be him giving up on his own gender identity and simply accepting the gender he was assigned at birth. But I guess that's second fiddle to AGPs getting to jack off to Bridget's shenis.

That's exactly what's funny about it, yes, he WAS forced to both dress as and act like a girl. he was born into a tribe where if you have two of the same sex kids it's cursed, or a bad omen, Bridget has a brother. His parents told him he could act like a girl or be exiled which would mean certain death. he's a Man he's got a feminine voice and look but you could argue those aren't even his doing as he's been forced to act as such. he is a bounty hunter and he likes being a guy, one of his key story beats was him trying to find his lost brother who they seem to have all but forgotten about in Strive because brotherhood and family are bad apparently. so the now le epic trans rights character was essentially groomed into it since birth instead of what he actually is which is a man who found a sense of self and enjoys doing masculine things, he enjoys being a bounty hunter, he enjoys fighting he's even fairly bloodthirsty, he desperately wants to find and protect his brother.

He was more than what his parents forced him to be, that was the entire point, his parents forced him to act and dress like a girl and yet he does masculine things and enjoys it, because he knows that despite what his parents forced on him, despite how he dresses and how he looks and sounds, he's a man and enjoys being one. his story was one of personal growth and perseverance, one where he got dealt a shit hand in life but rolled with it and rose above it, where he may not look how a man should but he's comfortable in his own skin and is living a life that he chose for himself doing things he wants to do. in Strive they rip that all away to cater to trannies. now he has no stake in his own story, he doesn't fight to keep his masculinity, to stay and be a man despite how he looks and the hardships it brings him. now he just lies there and takes what hand he was dealt, he's just passively groomed into being a "woman" he's just the trans character for brownie points now. The trannies that got brought in for strive are praising Bridget for being a grooming victim since he was born. that's their "Own" to the chuds, is Femboy erasure. Fuck Arcsys, he's a MAN and always will be. TTD.
