Six weeks into playing GTA online from scratch and some of it is fun. I managed to buy the oppressor and Hydra this week from going AFK and stacking up the nightclub money. I'm sick and tired of the stupid glitches in the gun running delivery missions. Staggering that they haven't fixed it yet but I doubt they care.
I think in the new year I might go back and start over and take out all the mistakes I've made.
What platform are you playing on?

If on PC, I recommend a VPN.

Apparently Rockstar teased the new location. It's a tropical island. Looks like a drug plantation to me. Everyone on GTAForums is talking about how they are never going back to Los Santos after this but I'm pretty sure it's not going to be a free roaming location based on the size. But I've been wrong about this update so far so who knows? Wish I could get more hyped for it but I'm just so burnt out on GTAOnline at this point.

Huh, I was expecting North Yankton. A new island has some opportunities for it. Probably a drug operation like @ProblematicUser420 said.

"El Rubio" is a town in Spain. It also translates to "the blond." Who knows what this would bring, probably more paywalls.

It’s time to raise the stakes higher than ever before. You’ve broken a convicted spy out of Bolingbroke Penitentiary. You’ve saved the world from an egomaniacal tech billionaire. And you’ve beaten the odds to drain a casino of its cash. This time, you’re taking on an entire island.

Prepare to infiltrate the remote island compound of the world’s most notorious drug dealer in Grand Theft Auto Online’s biggest, most daring, and action-packed addition yet: The Cayo Perico Heist.
It’s up to you to find a way to breach Cayo Perico, one of the most secure private islands in the entire world, evade or neutralize the heavily armed security forces stationed there, and escape with valuable evidence along with as much art, gold and drug money as you can carry.

Choose your tools. Choose your approach. Choose your crew – or even go it entirely alone. Just make it back to Los Santos in one piece.
The Cayo Perico Heist is the biggest GTA Online adventure ever, introducing an all-new exotic Heist location, with a brand-new approach to Heist design that features the ability to play everything solo or with up to three other players. Plus you can acquire new vehicles and tactical weapons, experience new social spaces to dance and party in with your friends, and new world-class guest DJs, and listen to new radio stations with over 100 new songs. Oh, and a very large, very versatile, and very heavily armed submarine HQ with plenty of other surprises.

Stay tuned for more details as you prepare for The Cayo Perico Heist.

Sounds like it's just for the heist and that's it.

I have the feeling this is preparation for GTA VI; if the numerous Vice City rumors are anything to go by. This island reminds me of somewhere in the Caribbean.

~Twenty years later, there's still content to find within GTA III. Either inside the code or publication.

Possible "insult" button with Claude
Car mine drop feature
Peds could've called police in response to a crime
Taxi mission was more "aggressive"
On foot cinematic camera option
PS2 easter egg

Man GTAIII is the game that keeps on giving. I'm always surprised when another one of these videos pops up.

Say what you will about how pretty games look now, but it seems like they were trying way more shit when 4k ultra realistic graphics weren't the main focus.

They were certainly ambitious with the PS2 and the third GTA. Especially since the first two GTAs were merely novelties.

Forgot to mention: taxi fare for III originally gave you money ala Crazy Taxi. $1 per second then a fixed rate.

I'd love to play GTA 3 with its beta cartoon graphics.

Apparently, GTA IV cannot handle an unlocked framerate.

The final mission is damn near unbeatable because of input vs. framerate. Basically, you have to tap A rapidly to climb up a helicopter. But the game is running at an unintended speed from an unlocked framerate so your taps aren't recognized.

This is an issue for Xbox Series S|X and Xbox One X owners because the console natively boosts performance. PC users as well if they boost the framerate.

I thought R* stopped tying framerate to physics after the 3D era.

Watch this never get fixed by Rockstar, they're the type that keeps ripping music out instead of renewing them after all.

I honestly have more faith in the Xbox BC teams doing something about this, and even that's a stretch given how old IV is.

You'd think if they'd go through that effort of removing and adding songs, they'd optimize IV one more time.

Speaking of BC, I'm surprised Max Payne 3 didn't get backwards compatible. The first two I could understand because of Remedy, but R* themselves made Max Payne 3.

"But how will that make us money?" --- Take Two

R* knows how to make quality experiences. Just their games on a technical level leaves a lot to be desired.

Is there any way to have an enjoyable solo experience in GTA Online? I used to to enjoy the autism of roleplaying and capturing clips to edit later, but i see all this content i'm missing out on, and got no acquaintances that have the damn game

What are some solo jobs or updates one can take part in?

I don't know why they put their veto on that one. I have the PC version but the online is dead, so I always hoped that they would add it to the BC list.

They've rereleased LA Noire for current gen, they've added their Table Tennis game, Bully, and even Midnight Club: LA (but they've removed it from the storefront.)

Even on PS4, they've added some classic PS2 titles on PS4 with trophy support but not on Xbox.

I'm sure Max Payne is more popular than a table tennis game.

Their BC support has been inconsistent.

This new generation has just started, so maybe Max Payne 3 will become a BC title before it's over.

I hope so, anyway. That one plus the OG Xbox versions of GTA III/Vice City are the big ones I'm hoping for.

Most contact missions can be done solo. All of the businesses can be done solo, but unless you take the effort into forcing a solo lobby with only you in it you'll be attacked non stop by other players instead of NPC enemies.

Technically races can be done solo, but you won't be racing against *anyone* and just doing a time trial basically.

The survival missions where you face increasingly larger waves of enemies that can be done solo.

There are various gangs you can fight in free roam, there are also collectibles. (some of them unlock outfits, others are directly related to helping with heists which are NOT solo as of this time, but it has been said the newest heist coming out this month CAN be done solo)

There's stuff to do solo, but all in all it's nothing that is very fun to do by ones self.

I stumbled across this just now and I'm surprised I never saw it (or remember seeing it at least) since it was apparently posted in Feb 2018

I find it interesting as it seems Franklin was stuck living with his aunt far longer in the game originally, or the Sharmoota Job happened way earlier than I would have imagined.
