Sorry for the double post but I just found out Lazlow apparently left Rockstar in April. I guess he just announced it though Instagram a few days ago. Saw Gtamen report it.

Man has all the GTA III OGs left now? Sam Houser still there but doesnt he just run shit in New York?
Not sure I'm all that surprised given how long we've gone without another GTA game.

Really, outside of some pre-production work on GTA VI, what could he have been doing since V back in 2013?

I'm pretty sure he was heavily involved with RDR2s sound and music production, as well as all of the theater acts in the game.

I haven't considered that he was a part of other Rockstar projects, Red Dead Redemption 2 is certainly heavy work.

Hopefully he had a hand in the next Grand Theft Auto game, the radio stations wouldn't be the same without him.

Every time I see this thread bumped I think there’s big news and then my heart is crushed

With both Dan and Lazlow gone I think we can consider the "real" Rockstar a thing of the past and now it's RINO, Rockstar in name only.

A lot of developers undergo a sort of ship of Theseus effect where key talent that made them what they are leave and though they continue on in technicality it's never really the same, with Bioware as probably the clearest example of that.

The hatchetjob EA did on Bioware is unforgivable IMO.

It is, it's definitely one of the sadder stories in gaming history, although not the saddest in my opinion, that would be what Konami did to Silent Hill, but Bioware is up there.

What was the last "real" Bioware game, wasn't it Mass Effect 2?

That said I don't think what's going to happen to Rockstar will be as bad as what happened to Bioware, at least I hope not, but things that are definitely going to feel different post RDR2.

Keep in mind plenty of what happened to BioWare was done by BioWare. The staffing changes between ME1 and ME2, Andromeda, Anthem... that wasn't EA's doing, as much as we want to say it is to comfort ourselves. The minute Mac Walters got a major writing job was when things when to shit, and when Karpeshyn and the codex blurb writer left BioWare the real heart and soul of the series died. Since then they've doubled-down on the woke, hiring morons like the writer for the ugly elf in Inquisition (dear lord, you should have shaved those rough edges off).

At this point I think Sam Houser is only staying on board to make sure GTA VI becomes a thing and isn't totally fucked by the higher-ups at Take-Two.

Pretty much, although I think Sam Houser's still in for GTA VI and will probably bail as soon as it is complete and ready for release. When we get GTA VI, I think it will be the last great GTA game and will serve as Rockstar's swan song along with Red Dead Redemption.

I've got another theory about GTA V being ported once more and released on PS5 at launch. We do know Rockstar has announced they're working on a major project and most people think it's the next GTA. I think they realized they couldn't get it ready for the PS5 launch later this year and the GTA V port is to tide the fans over and make a few extra bucks from GTA Online.

On another note, I wish someone could make another Manhunt game. I'd do it as a full remake of the first game, kinda like the Resident Evil remakes. Maybe even expand Carcer City a bit and have more gangs of hunters like the Camera Heads that were cut from the game or even entirely new gangs with weird gimmicks.

I had an idea for a Manhunt gang with an undead zombie theme and it's all comprised of really hardcore drug fiends. For a lack of a better name, we'll call them The Ghouls.

The thing is that they'd have three main types of enemies since Manhunt 1 kind of did that with the different character models (Innocentz had the Babyfaces and the Satanic cholos with the Halloween masks) so I'm thinking the different hunters in this gang would have a different take on the zombies and ghosts. Each one also has a preferred drug of choice.

Sleepers: Heroin addicts who attack weak but are so doped up that they don't feel pain. Tend to wear dingy street clothes and blue-gray face paint. Largely melee fighters

Rageheads: Major league crack fiends and methheads who tend to wear reddish face paint and fake blood all over their unkempt tattered clothes and have red eyes. They're melee only but they move fast and hit hard like the "fast zombies" of 28 Days Later or the Dawn of the Dead remake.

Wraiths: Mostly comprised of women and typically use psychedelics and psychotropics, They usually wear hoods or gowns reminiscent of funeral shrouds, grim reapers, or "sheet ghosts" and have pale green face paint. They're the only ones in the ghouls who use guns and mostly focus on ranged combat and setting up crude traps to stop Cash.

The original Manhunt is way underrated and I agree that it'd be interesting to see something new done with the ip.

Nah, they'll release the same game for the new consoles and make up an excuse for why there is no cross-platform or generation online. People will still buy the fuck out of it and keep bending over.
I disagree. GTAForums was in a proper uproar about it and tbh r*'s never gonna get the genie on the bottle for online ever again, that's why they're milking V.
