It boils down to me just finding it cringe and hypocritical.

I'm tall and generally considered fairly good-looking and it doesn't bother me what the Character I play as looks like for the most part lol.

I never understood the type of people who want to spend hours creating themselves in a character creator. I’m fine with playing the generic set model, because I’m playing video games to be someone else or do things I would never do in real life.

I don't even do that. Sometimes I'll fiddle with it for a second. But yeah I don't care what the mc looks like for the most part (obviously not a tranny or anything)

Nothing hypocritical about it. Do you want to sit around and watch a two hour movie starring a bunch of ugly, fat, outright putrid looking motherfuckers? Of course not. There's a reason all movie stars look handsome and beautiful. So if I wouldn't sit around and watch a two hour movie starring ugly fat people (unless its a comedy where them being ugly and fat is the point, and people make fun of them for it), then why would sit through a 30+ hour video game with characters that look like Neanderthals or Cro-Magnon?

People usually create an idealized version of themselves, a cosplay character or something random. There really isn't anything weird about it. I know of a few guys that said they specifically create female characters because that's what they want to look at when they're playing a video game.
