Unrelated to GTA but they started forcing their shitty launcher/DRM on their old games like LA Noire that fucked my save files for umpteenth time. I'm not even mad, just confused.

Why Steam is enough DRM, can anyone explain why cuckstar are pushing their shitty launcher so hard? Data collection, Grifting, store, DRM or all of them?

For the record I haven't played modern cuckstar games, so I don't know what the deal is. If anyone here has a account and uses it, please tell me why it exists.

For once, I'd love to see dynamic weather that can affect missions. If not VI, then hopefully the GTA after.

I was going to reply about the times I've had missions go easier because of rain (being able to shoot tires more easily and spin target out, waves slowing down target boat etc) but now that I think of it those aren't dynamic those were all scripted. Even in GTA V for the main story missions it sets you in specific mission parameters as the mission starts which includes the weather, like when it rains at the Lost funeral for Johnny's chapter.

It would be an interesting concept if they could do it, and I'm sure with it being set in Miami a hurricane or tropical storm will feature at some point in the storyline, or at least I hope it would. If they could add dynamic weather so that, say, fog could make a heist easier or a popup rainstorm could make for a trickier getaway, that'd be cool. My hopes were set high with games like Battlefield pushing big weather and stage effects and it's like devs just lost interest.



I've watched the trailer a few more times and one thing I am really struck by, other than the demographics, is that the body physics look fucking amazing. Like better than I was expecting even after 10 years. If the physics work like they do in the trailer it's a huge step up because the movement all seemed very fluid rather than the stiff legged jankiness that was in V.

Spoiler: My take

To answer my own questions, maybe Lester? Its difficult to imagine one of the 3 leads being in Vice city. But if one had to appear, I could maybe see it being Trevor. And yes, I think he could get killed off. Why? Simple. Steven Ogg isnt the biggest fan of the character, now that doesnt mean he doesnt like the character itself but he hates that it caused him to be typcast into only violent roles (similar thing happened with Buffalo Bill's actor, it got so bad he only accepted wholesome roles from that point onward). And after Johnny's cheap death at Trevor's introduction, it really feels like anything goes when you are not controlled by the player anymore (and before someone mentions Vic Vance, I will say that his significance as as character was only retroactive with VCS. Johnny was already established as a major once playable character that is just suddenly killed off like nothing). Now you can say Trevor dying (probably to the new leads) is just as cheap or just things coming full circle but I can see Ogg being all for it).

I'm amazed at the hair physics. I had thought that the NPCs on the beach looked less detailed than other aspects of the trailer.

I'm thinking they'd "kill" off Trevor through a news article without his character actually appearing. I believe Steven Ogg has repressed feelings about GTA V as an actor. They'll likely have one of them reappear through the online mode like they use IV characters for GTA Online as contacts.

If we go with the timeline where Roman didn't die, his marriage should fall through hard enough that he moves his cab business to Vice City and develops a strong case of jungle BBW fever.

Devil's advocate: I can see where Steven Ogg is coming from with only being known for ONE role. The GTA V community isn't exactly full of intellectuals. But, if he did not want to be solely known as Trevor, why participate in the Comic Cons and interviews where he's typecasting himself as Trevor towards autistic fans to yell at them? Add insult to injury, he cheated Hugo One out of a $150 Cameo because he asked him to be Trevor.

There's better ways to communicate that you don't want to be JUST known as Trevor. All that opportunity to make money and establish goodwill just squandered because of his ego.

In older 3D GTA games you could throw grenades or stand near burning cars right before a cutscene and then the explosion would happen during the cutscene and no one reacts. There were a few issues in GTA:SA where you would drop someone off to end a mission on a mission marker. But if an NPC collided with you during the transition or the cutscene, the game would be unable to start the cutscene, essentially soft locking you.

Or in other cases the NPCs would move during a cutscene. And you would be locked out of your controls. And so would your NPC allies that you needed to keep alive during the mission. And right as the cutscene ended they would get run over by a car that had been driven on the sidewalk by some rogue NPC.

I've never really understood GTA. I tried playing it once but all the sex, drugs, violence weirded me out. It seems to just be a surrogate activity for people to act out their worst fantasies without being destructive in real life.

Have you seen the RDR2 spam on YouTube where it’s people engineering goofy real time cutscenes? Things like setting a time delayed fire so the characters are talking while being nonchalantly burnt to a crisp.
