After watching this trailer a couple of times, I still don’t see any reason to move on from Vice City and RDR2. Besides Tom Petty, this trailer was dog shit.

I have strong views on the GTA series as a whole that I think affects my views on VI. I think V is, objectively, the best entry. When people talk about V, they usually compare it unfavourably to IV, mostly in regards to story. And it is true: IV has better writing, kind of, but I feel that the better writing makes it, paradoxically, a worse GTA game. There's a grinding of gears and incongruity between the tragic story of Niko Bellic, a Serbian war veteran who committed horrific and violent acts trying to escape his past life and start a new life in America, getting sucked back into a world of violence and revenge and its commentary on the failures of the American dream in post-9/11 New York and the game still trying to retain its "GTA" identity, where the radio ads and presenters is over the top and satirical and all the side characters who give you quests are colourful and eccentric. Something like Ballad of Gay Tony made more sense for a main story. V felt like it struck a perfect middle ground of having that satirical, darkly comedic, colourful identity of the earlier entries with modern, up to date gameplay. Plus the unique selling points didn't just feel like gimmicks; the three protagonists works extremely well on both a gameplay and narrative level.
As previously mentioned, without Benzies as director or Houser writing, I really don't see a strong vision guiding GTA VI and making it interesting in a way the previous entries have been. I like Vice City as a setting, and I like that they're probably going to branch out into parts of South Florida like GTA V did with Southern California. But I don't have any faith in something interesting coming out of nu-Rockstar. Red Dead Redemption II was kind of their swan song.

Outside the memes, that's basically what every HD GTA trailer has been. The First Trailer touches on the world mainly, showing off the Main city, the people, vehicles, etc, and You get some hints at plot but never more than that. We didn't even see Franklin and Trevor until Trailer 2 for GTA 5, and didn't get gameplay until 2 months before launch

LOL Assuming any modern mod site would ever allow it. Mod sites are woke and have been policing anything media and ReeeEra screeches about for a while now.

It's such wasted potential that they are STILL recycling Liberty, Vice, Los Santos, Liberty, Los Santos, Vice, over and over after all these years. The GTA world feels very small and creatively stale at this point, and some interesting new cities and locations could have injected some life and interest back into the series. Why not somewhere based on like, Dublin? Shanghai? Mexico City? There are so many cool cities with their own criminal underworld and subcultures. Why does Rockstar keep going back to the same well? Vice City was almost entirely a homage to the show Miami Vice and was heavily defined by it's 80s setting, I don't really see the appeal of 2020s Vice City with phone videos of twerking and le funny Florida Man (a meme current on reddit 10-15 years ago). Based on the trailer alone it seems soulless and uninteresting to me, granted it's just a trailer but its purpose is to get me excited and I'm nodding off.

Another city could be nice, but the real issue is the era's and style of games they are trying to turn the games into.
