I'm miffed that all of the vehicles & weapons added since the Lowriders update never made their way into the campaign.

Used to be the bare minimum, yet Rockstar apparently couldn't be assed enough to meet even that standard.
Evidently, I heard that adding more content to GTA V's single player would break the game. Take that what you will.

The old guard is gone.
I question just how true this really is.

People are starting to treat Dan Houser, Leslie Benzies and Lazlow the same way they treat Kojima, attributing absolutely everything to them when the fact is there are plenty of Rockstar "regulars" that, as far as I'm aware, have not left or distanced themselves from the company. (if you can provide sources proving otherwise though, I'd love to see them because I'm searching and can't find anything)

When it comes to writing, people forget that there was a writing team behind most if not all of Rockstar games dating back to Grand Theft Auto IV that consisted of Dan Houser, Michael Unsworth and Rupert Humphries. That isn't even getting into the other dozen or so people that helped with pedestrian dialogue and banter.

When it comes to producers, you have Chris Choi who has been a producer since LA Noir and he recently became the VP of Development. David Kunkler has been a producer since Red Dead Redemption, Neil McCaffrey since The Warriors, William Mills since Manhunt 2, Josh Needleman since Table Tennis, Rob Nelson since The Warriors...

There's plenty of people who have been at Rockstar for years now that are still there. Game development, especially games as large as Rockstar open world games, shouldn't really be attributed to a single or even handful of people.

Edit: As for adding online content to GTA V's single player, there were glitches to do it back in the day and there are still mods that can do it on PC without any adverse effects. I feel like this wouldn't effect consoles differently if it could be done, so I'm going to say best case scenario it's them trying to preserve the fact it is set in 2013, and on the worst case scenario it's probably just so you'll spend money to use them in Online. (although IIRC you can still pick new vehicles to use in races without buying them, correct?)

I'm aware that game development isn't achieved with just a few people. But every successful endeavor has a leader/leaders. They have a vision and they seek out those they deem capable of manifesting that vision. Houser, Benzies, and Lazlow were visionaries. They are responsible for the stories, the approach to a truly open world, and the humor that R* games have come to be known for. All of those people are gone. Those who are left have yet to prove themselves without the presence of the afore mentioned.

Those who are left have yet to prove themselves
Except for, you know, working on all the games for the past 15 years or so...

This is such a hardcore gamer attitude. Let's just ignore that Leslie wasn't involved with RDR2 at all as a producer and it came out fine. They very much HAVE proven themselves without his presence.

Lets just ignore the fact that Dan worked very closely with two others when writing these stories for 12 years. There's no way they could have had any input on these stories, their style or humor during that time, right?

You say you understand that a game is more than just the co founders, but it really doesn't sound like it. Like holy shit at least wait until we see a trailer before doomposting so much.

Are you intentionally missing my point? Do you think games are just developed in a vacuum? There is every indication that R* is, like so many other IP's in the current day, run by committee. That is not how it was while Houser, Benzies, and Lazlow were there. T2 was just the publisher. R* did what they wanted. There is every indication that T2 has far greater influence than they used to. R* has yet to release anything of substance without those I mentioned. It is completely within the realm of possibility that GTA VI, or whatever the next iteration is, will be banal and safe (see their recent removal of all the tranny npc's in GTA V as just one example that they've bent the knee). And it will be because it is run by a committee whose only interest is maximizing profits. I don't believe they have the balls anymore. If you believe the second stringers can pull it out, good for you. I do not have that kind of faith, nor should I. They need to prove themselves to me.

(nice ninja edit)

the whole problem is we still don't know why Dan is gone; since his departure only things which R* did are GTAO updates twice per year and checking if GSG won't brick consoles with Defective Editions

not a good look, not gonna lie

I guess I was, because it sounded more like you were apprehensive over Houser, Benzies and Lazlow being gone and there being a general lack of "leadership" and not that Take 2 may or may not have a more active hand in development, which is why my original point was that to claim that the "old guard" was gone seemed overstated, as there are still plenty of 15+ year veteran producers and writers working at Rockstar Games. Producers and writers who have worked closely with the people you revere and contributed greatly to the game series the publisher is known for.

When it comes to Take 2 and their hand in development, I think people are jumping the gun and making assumptions like they always do. I remember people saying the same thing about RDR2 between 2015 to 2018, and how it would be ruined because Take 2 was so focused on GTA Online and microtransactions during it's development. Then it came out, and it was fine and people loved it. It's actually funny to me that after the fact, the biggest complaint is that they didn't take advantage of it's Online component more by pushing microtransaction filled updates.

Could it be horrible? Of course. But I'm not willing to just make that my default assumption before I even see a trailer simply because 3 people left the company, the companies continued support for GTA Online and the removal of some tranny NPC's I never even paid attention to.

As for the nice ninja edit, I'd like to compliment you on the quick removal of your retaliatory stickies as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case, same as RDR1's source code allegedly being a complete mess (and the reason why it has never been ported to PC and modern consoles).

R* is selling an entertainment product. It is their job to sell it to me. I have listed issues I have with the companies. I could have listed many more issues and you likely know exactly what they are but you choose to argue semantics. Said issues have shaken my confidence in their product. They no longer get the benefit of the doubt. As such, it is up to those who remain to prove themselves to me and convince me that their product is worth my time and money. It's hard for me to believe I even need to explain this, but here we are.

To me (and likely others), R* has proved to be as bad as EA or Activision the past few years. It's not farfetched to speculate that GTA 6 will be a good game marred with excessive monetization or watered down gameplay.

I won't lie that I wouldn't be excited for such an announcement trailer if/when one comes out. But, I'll be very skeptical on the complete product.

Holy shit, calm down. Rockstar hasn't even begun to sell you this entertainment product no need to lose your shit because I pointed out that there are more people behind Rockstar games than just the three guys at the top of the list and said "maybe it's a bit premature to lose your shit over a fucking game."

Don't bother responding, btw, I'm done having this retarded back and forth with you.

*back peddling
OK sport. I expressed skepticism. You took your time and responded to me because I clearly insulted your delicate sensibilities when it comes to R*. I get it. You believe they can be the same company they were. I don't believe that and there is no reason for me to. So we're at an impasse. Go dilate. You'll feel better.

Apparently Rockstar has given more information on what quality of life improvements they are adding with this next update to GTA Online

- Ability to source and sell in said sessions
- Increased High Demand bonus for selling in public sessions

- Faster vehicle delivery through the mechanic
- No more charges for destroying weaponized vehicles
- Avenger and MOC will accommodate any vehicle that fit, excludes Oppressor MK II
- Two additional properties can be purchased, bringing total to 10 and increasing garage space by 20.

- Can now immediately hang up on phone calls when missions are offered
- PC players can disable chat box
- Kill/Death statistic will no longer be affected by kills in freemode, only through competitive gameplay modes.
- Cayo Perico scope out now has higher time limit and you are allowed more instances of being caught before being kicked off the island (I didn't realize either of these things were actually a thing)
- The Race Creator is getting a major update that features increased checkpoint limit, increased player limit for transform races, ability to create RC Bandito races, ghost to first checkpoint option being added to race types, anti grief ghosting option, ability to set specific time of day for race and ability to scale checkpoint size.

Payout Increases
- Races and Adversary modes will pay out an average of 50% more
- Total prize pool for Premium Races increased. 1st, 2nd, 3rd will have same payout, players placing fourth and lower will now receive a payout as well.

- Pacific Standard Job Finale, Doomsday Heist Acts I, II and 3 pay 50% more on top of current take.
- All heists will have same cooldown timer of 48 minutes (1 in game day) when playing as a group

***Here is where the fucking comes***

- Cayo Perico Solo Heists have 144 minute (3 in game days) cooldown
- After stealing high value Primary Target in Cayo Perico, higher primary targets will appear less often for the next 72 hours, while the value of secondary targets will increase. This is intended to increase exploration and cooperation among players. (no, it's intended to stop you from making 1.5+ million solo every hour)

- Baseline salary for bodyguards/MC members are doubled
- MC members get increased payout for sell missions
- Bodyguards now get a payout for sell missions
- Fee's related to renaming organization reduced

- First time payout boosts being re-instated for everyone regardless of if they have completed activates before.
- Executives get 3x payout for the new Export Mixed Goods Sell Missions
- Biker Business produce stock at 3x their regular speed, returning to normal rates after first sell mission is completed.
- Gun Runners research speed tripled, return to normal after first sell
- Nightclub business battle goods contain triple the amount, returning to normal after first sell
- First sell mission for all of the above will pay out double the usual amount.
- Limited time payout boosts for MC Club Work, Club Challenges, Clubhouse Contracts and Members Challenges. VIP work will also double payout for limited time.

A lot of this feels like shit that should have been done years ago tbqh, especially stuff like easier armor/snack options and faster vehicle delivery. I'm sure GTA Online fanatics will praise it as the greatest thing ever and keep playing for a couple more years.

I wonder how the solo Cayo Perico nerf is going to play out. I can see it going over like a lead balloon but at the same time it's been two years people should have earned enough by now that that 1.5+ million every 3 hours instead of every hour shouldn't be *that* bad.

The removal of K/D in freemode would have been a good idea like...8 years ago. It would be a good idea now if they just reset all K/D in general. The tryhards and griefers would be on suicide watch.

I have faith that the next game will be great and generate tons of excitement upon release because they always do, it's what happens afterwards in terms of support, DLC and grfiting that will piss many off. I anticipate we will be blown away and suck R* dick for the first month before the excitement wears off, most of us complete the story and then the meta discussion starts.

I'm living for the awe and excitement of that first month of release that GTAIV, V and RDR2 gave me. May be a little too :optimistic: but it seems foolish to anticipate a videogame with pessimism whilst fully in the knowledge that I am going to play it anyway. May as well be optimistic, and if I am wrong nothing was lost.

New job listings for Rockstar Games have some speculating that GTA VI is still currently in development

Some job listings in question, courtesy of Hitmarker:

Kind of says a lot that most of the programming jobs are located in the likes of India and the United Kingdom.

Seems that nerf only works if you complete the heist, using the Cayo Perico glitch make it a non-issue....unless you're a solo player on console.

There's a glitch?
Yep, On PC, If you disconnect your internet at the right time during the ending cutscene (I do it as soon as "heist passed" pops up) you can get the money from the heist but not actually complete the heist. The heist will still be available when you return to online. Repeat till you're bored

On console it works the game largely but for some reason the host gets nothing while the crew gets payed. So you'll need to have a friend host the heist and give you the maximum cut.
