If GTA IV let you replay Three Leaf Clover and a handful of other missions, people would probably have a more favorable opinion of it. Zoomers and other faggots can complain that the 3D era was "basic", but it lead to the missions themselves being a lot more fun to play IMO. I still go back and replay the 3D era GTA's but I think I've only replayed GTA V once in the damn near ten years its been out.
One of the smartest decisions IV made with its replay value is the friendship system. Some of your mission givers are more than that. They have schedules, depth, character, preferences. I would've preferred it if they lessened the call back system with it.

I would recommend doing the side activities AFTER the midway point of the story.

Exactly, why bother? It's not Rockstar's fault people are morons. If they see that only 10% of players finish the single-player game, but plenty of idiots are willing to pay a hundred dollars for gold planes, why blame them for taking free money?
I honestly feel like they could have very easily had their cake and eat it too by adding significant single player content and appealing to both sides of their fanbase. Don't tell me they couldn't have done three solid expansions with the amount of time and money they're raking in from the multiplayer component. I understand the Jew logic is that if you give single player people any kind of extra content they'll be less likely to go to multiplayer, and thus, less likely to become good little paypiggies, but there's got to be a point where you just go 'eh fuck it we're making so much money anyway' that that logic falls off completely.

Calling this a mission is a stretch, but it's still interesting I think. I just wish Vadim wouldn't try so hard to tie it into the narrative of the game. It seems obvious to me it was a test for in game cutscenes.

The barrel scene, I've seen something like that in San Andreas with Catalina and the tanker.

The only good thing about GTA: The Trilogy: The DEFINITIVE Edition is the leftover code left from their respective launches.

Exactly. It's literally just a "movie demonstration".

I'm baffled that Vadim can have the knowledge to pull this stuff out and "fix" it, yet somehow still think it was an actual cut mission named "Movie Demo". This is all just testing of camera angle placement, NPC placement and AI commands in the playable open world.

The fact Vadim needed 4 takes to get it to work tells us that the test was done with traffic turned off, or possibly done at such an early time that AI traffic wasn't fully implemented.

Developers cannot have fun anymore. Everything must have a reason.

It's the problem of wanting to find something "big" when it comes to cut content. You start giving stuff more importance than it needs.

This is still a neat find, but it just makes me think Vadim looks like kind of a retard for acting like someone at Rockstar North was so desperate to have the scene of "men looking at someone walking out of police station" that they mandated to Rockstar Leeds it be put into Vice City Stories.

It's not farfetched to think that something "dummied out" in a long running series would eventually get used in the future.

I guess that cutscene would be the final result of the car chase movie mission.

Probably Steve would call you to come back to the studio after the mission to see the result of the chase, and then this little cutscene would play.

For those who beat GTA IV: who did you choose to kill, Francis or Derrick?

My first choice was Derrick. I wanted money. Little did I know then was that money was useless long term. I believe that killing Francis is the canon choice; Derrick dies anyway during the events of V. Niko doesn't like to be used and threatened.

Nobody liked Francis as well.

Francis for being a prick, although given Derrick wants all of his old associates dead and him being in the vicinity of a police station..,

I don't know, something about him is very shady, even putting him being a junkie aside.

Wasn't he involved with the IRA as well?

My first playthrough I shot Derrick since he was a far gone junkie and I figured having a cop on my side would be better in the end, of course I realized Francis is a shady fuck himself and did threaten Niko, so on subsequent playthroughs I shoot him.

Don't forget the Tunnel of Death mission where he ask you to kill Aiden O'Malley because he was telling anyone who'd listen that Derrick is a rat and sold him out.

The Pavano Family in IV is run by a woman. Italian mobs are rarely run by women.

When even they don't respect Pegorino, you know he's a bad boss.

I wish there was an option to spare him. He was imprisoned because of Derrick. I theorize that Derrick ratted Gerry into prison.
