You can easily have a female protagonist in a GTA game. Political correctness doesn't fucking matter when the game is a fucking satire. The pedestrians in each game are purposely stereotyped. Rockstar isn't being racist or sexist. They are doing it on purpose because it represents a satirical USA.

I would believe that, but the state of the market says otherwise. I think it would be very unironic and all pro stronk wahmen stepping on testicles. Even V was very dialed back in comparison to previous games.

I know it's only the tiniest of changes, but the fact they felt the need to change this at all is a good indication of how fucked GTA 6 is going to be.

I think there's also lots of potential but that the likelihood is high that any female GTA protagonist would be incredibly bland or inoffensive.

As example I would bring up Franklin in GTA V. Both Michael and Trevor were troubled individuals. Trevor clearly disturbed in the head and a psycho, Michael unable to deal with being a family man and not someone famous and grand.

In comparison Franklin's biggest flaw is being too loyal to his scummy friends and participating in crime for fast cash. Like is greed supposed to be his character?

A female protagonist in GTA would likely always be the victim, and have some altruistic goal where they do crime to save the family or a friend for example.

It is subtle compared to Michael's Mid-life crisis and Trevor's general instability but it's there.

The main cause is Franklin mooning over Tanisha after she decided she could do better, but there's also just the dissatisfaction with his lot.

Like I said, boring. He's having a bad time because his girlfriend dumped him and he can't afford his own place.
How is that not extremely milquetoast?

And it's exactly what the protagonist for gta 6 will be

I'd say it's being the middleman between Micheal and Trevor. His arc compared to Micheal and Trevor is underdeveloped. Almost like he was a last minute addition. Hell, Lamar was meant to be playable at one point.

I always saw his addition to the game as purely a way to fill a quota. While I hate V overall for the most part, he's the weakest thing about it. He has the most stereotypical black motivation as a character in a game I've ever seen.
 
Franklins only purpose is to be the player insert. He's generic because you're supposed to be viewing the craziness of Mike and Trevor through him.

It's similar to Raidens role in MGS2. The problem is that it wasn't done that well because they were too focused on Mike and Trevor to give Franklin any more than flavor characteristics.
 
Isn't it meant to be like a Freudian thing with Trevor as the id and Michael as the super-ego (although I'd argue Franklin is the super-ego and the whole thing is Michael's story)
