Got my hands on a refurbished New Nintendo 3DS XL, should I consider getting Chinatown Wars?

The cheapest I've seen is $35 on GameStop, is that a worthwhile purchase for someone that never played it before?
If you have an iPhone or Android, get it there. It's only $5 there and has more content. Of course, if you want the original, then go ahead.

The stuff with Stretch was akin to a really lame attempt to retell CJ's story arc from San Andreas, only with far less time due to the three-character system + V having the least amount of story missions overall to begin with.
Even that is giving the game too much credit. You do like 2 missions with Stretch, he disappears for like 80% of the game then he somehow betrays Lamar off-screen and then reappears to die in the final mission.

I don't even know what the hell Stretch did to deserve getting whacked beyond setting up shady deals with the Ballas

If he tries to have Lamar killed, what's to say he doesn't try something on Franklin next since he liked him even less than Lamar? It was a loose end needing tied up, but yeah it doesn't feel right being in the big grand finale of the game.

It was clearly all they had to work with though since Dan was clearly more focused on Michael. But considering they had Michael kill him anyways what was the fucking point?

Franklin was too smart for Stretch to try anything. He only "respected" Stretch because he was an OG. That's why Micheal was chosen to kill Stretch; then it can't be traced back to either Franklin or Lamar.

I do wish the rivalry between Stretch and Franklin was more established. I would forget he even existed.

Honestly, you could pretty much write Franklin out of the story for GTA V entirely and not miss much of anything. The only thing of worth lost is Lamar (although Aunt Denise had the potential to be entertaining), and you could easily write him into the story as a supporting character Michael works for. The only reason Franklin seems to exist is to act as an audience surrogate for Michael and Trevor's drama, and as the straight man between their clashing personalities.

Six protagonists of course
One character with six personality disorders

Not gonna lie -- GTAV would be more entertaining if Lamar and Franklin's roles were switched. Franklin feels more like a sidekick than his supposed sidekick.

They should just let you create a character for the protagonist at this point. The three protagonist thing sucked and I have no faith in nu-R* writing any compelling characters at all so I'd rather just be a custom created Claude.

That's basically what GTA Online has been in terms of story for the last several years now, as far as I can tell.

The problem is, if they went ahead and did it at this point, people would hate it for basically being something they did already with GTA Online.

It was almost like the three protagonists gimmick was a stupid idea...

How will VI top it?

Two timeframes, 80's Vice City and Modern Vice City

But they really half ass 80's Vice City and completely focus on Modern Vice City for GTA Online 2

Too bad Rockstar's character creators at launch have a tendency to put out melted monstrosities moreso than characters you'd want to play with.
