They already got regular work before.

EDIT:
You not hearing about small time/stage actors doesn't mean that it didn't lead to them getting more work, btw. When you're up and coming the more credits you have the better.
Then don't bring up the big guys if you can't prove getting underpaid and treated like shit leads to better opportunities. Because so far you've proven jack shit. Eventually that well will run dry. The best Rockstar has pulled out for GTAO is fucking Moodyman or whoever that tard is.

During III and Vice City, these well-known actors from mobster films did not take video games seriously. They still had the stigma that video games were meant for children.

We have GTA to thank for removing that belief that video games aren't just for children.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=ukxTd49qbr4Here's an interview of Liotta briefly talking about his experience with Vice City.
That scene where Henry Hill calls normal people suckers in Goodfellas comes to mind. I bet Ray thought the same about gamers.

The RDR2 gang have been heaping praise for years now. I've never seen any of them say a single bad word.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is not Grand Theft Auto. Not as much fanfare from Red Dead compared to GTA.
Well Ned Luke (Michael) seems to be (if not masochist) a R* asskisser or a hardcore fanboy.
I just hate that guy's general attitude. He actually reminds me of Micheal Townley. Living off past glories.

You said well-known actors. Who knows if they complained or not because the budgets for GTA and RDR are different.

What? My entire point is that they hire no names now, not well known actors specifically to get around the expectation of paying big dollars.

Please don't tell me you agree with this retard that actors will just not take a gig because Rockstar has some non-existant history of "treating actors bad".

Also the RDR2 crew has done far more convention appearances and interviews than any GTA ensemble. I think it would have came up if they had issues.

RDR was Dan Houser's baby if I'm not mistaken. He had an obsession with old western stuff, right?

Keep trying though, I'm sure we'll get to "bit character that did one day of work didn't become the next scar jo, why would anyone take these gigs!?" next
If they want to be the next ScarJo they should do porno instead. The thing is, though, that they get nothing out of it except being treated like shit and getting paid below the rate. I think Rockstar was actually one of the reasons they tried to do that video game voice acting guild bullshit. They bully no-names into accepting lower rate by using their big name status, but none of these no-names get anything to show for it. It's all I heard aspiring VAs whine about back when I had a twitter account.

"The least they could do is market them or something if they're gonna pay them in peanuts!", etc.

Hey, R* has money. And unions are being pushed now to give voice actors more pay.

R* says they don't hire well-known actors for main roles because of "ego and immersion."

He was in The Boondocks. The fuck you talking about?
Slink Johnson was also in Black Jesus.

Except a steady and decent paying gig, despite the bullshit you believe.

Michael Hollick got paid 100,000 dollars for his year of work in GTA IV. You're going to call that peanuts? For someone who's biggest role was "guy walking down hallway" in 2 episodes of SVU?

That came out after GTA V, though, so I can't really count that. He was in Freaknik, though. Actually forgot about that movie.
I actually recognize Slink Johnson more from Black Jesus than GTA V.

He did not get royalties from IV. He has no bad blood with R*, rather his union.

It's not a steady gig and it's not decent pay. They get paid below the going rate. Again, Rockstar is one of the major antagonizers that's gonna lead to that bullshit VA guild. I'm also not against Rockstar cheating people, if they're dumb enough, fine, whatever... my entire argument is that the well will run dry. If you keep a consistent image of being a hellhole, you tend to run out of prospective employees. Big name or no.

If I'm not mistaken, Michael Hollick effectively did get paid peanuts. Didn't he end up doing more work than was expected originally and didn't get reimbursed for it? As @The Last Stand said, though, that's on his union.

Compared to that gig, 100K is a decent sum of money for money. But, realize that IV made $500 million in worldwide revenue during its first week. And Michael played the main character in IV. All that voice acting and mo-cap footage.

Again, that's more on his union. That 100K to R* was peanuts compared to the budget and revenue they've generated from sales.

I'm not arguing that Rockstar couldn't have paid Michael Hollick more.

I'm saying that the idea that a struggling or bit character actor, let alone all of them, would refuse a gig like that is fucking retarded.

Imagine if you didn't have steady work, and Rockstar offered you 100k to perform as the main character of a game for a year. Would you not take it? On the principle of they could afford to pay you more? Because if so, I've got some bad news about 90% of employers...

You apply for jobs. You take the best one depending on your situation. As entry-level, you cannot afford to be TOO picky. You take what you can get.

So I decided to emulate San Andreas and Vice City after you fags mentioned using PCSX2 and it got me thinking I hadn't actually thought of trying that, I was so used to using the PC version of it that I assumed was better.

The ability to use save states is legit night and day in terms of gameplay, I can redo that shitty part until it's done better without having to restart the mission right from the start again etc. I can add a speedhack and level up driving faster. I can listen to Billie Jean without it not being there etc.

My question however is, did anyone save the Vice City/GTA3/San Andreas fanpatches that they made that basically fixed everything from draw distance to controller support to bugfixes etc? Because if so I can skip the fucking about in an emulator and rawdog it without a wrapper.

Silent Patch should still be around if you look.
