I'm desperately waiting that R* fixes that for us console fags too. Thanks to the draw distance San Andreas now looks like a theme park. Even looks horrible on the ground:

Yeah, the mod that adds fog back into the game helps, but you can still see shit way too far for my liking. The draw distance shouldn't go out beyond the length of cities IMO.

Some games were just built around hardware limitations like low draw distances. Increasing them for old games might sound like a good improvement, but in practice can make the game look much worse (such as with San Andreas, or games that relied on fog for atmosphere like the Silent Hill games).

Even beyond that, how could GSG look at this and think this makes San Andreas look good?

Why do all GTAs have glownigger shit in them now anyways? I get San Andreas because of the whole X-Files shit of the 90s but why IV and V?
For IV, conspiracy theory was also a pretty big part of 2006 and 2007's zeitgeist, it was the era of peak "9/11 was an inside job!" after all.

Not sure why it's so prevalent in V, stuff like the torture mission or foiling a terrorist plot, it feels like the last gasps of the post 9/11 era zeitgeist.

If there is a Hell
I'm sure this is how it smells
Wish this were a dream, but no, it isn't

I walk in the rain... in the rain...

"Well, it looked good in Fortnite."
2017 kind of feels like the finale of video games, it was a great year for games, but then Fortnite showed up and it's truly been going straight into the toilet since.

Federal government, capitalist elites... these have always been the 'heavies' of GTA. 🤔

In GTA1, Brother Marcus tells us that for too long, the "Brethren" have been sharing Vice Beach with "Babylon", and that this needs to change. "Babylon" is the U.S. government, and their leader is the President of the United States, whose limousine you can destroy, killing him.

In 2, the city was divided between 7 gangs, but only Zaibatsu holds turf in every district: grey suit, Z-type car and a clip-extended uzi. The old 6-star wanted level summoned the military to hunt you down.

Donald Love was a morally-bankrupt real estate tycoon who tried to incite racial violence. He has a crazy backstory, going from a suspected cannibal to running for Mayor of Liberty City.

That's American skepticism, corruption and inflation. In other words, how can you tell bullshit from actual reality?

Even CJ himself begins to grow on The Truth's multiple conspiracies. "I don't know. It ain't all bullshit..."

I specifically have a problem with San Andreas and GTA V over all the government/secret agent shit in it.

GTA IV handled working for the government much better IMO.

BTW you mean DeNiro, not Pacino.
Rockstar clearly really, really want to make a game where you're a Fed. I suppose there's LA Noire but that's not really their game, they just rescued it from the original devs.

A game where you play as a fed in the style of GTA would be so fucking awesome. Why do I have to play as some gangster all the time anyway? I want to entrap NPCs, start violent shit at peaceful protests, commit atrocities and organize false flags. Make the gameplay glow so bright that I'd need to adjust my monitor brightness.

Play the True Crime series. And Sleeping Dogs. OR if you want to be technical, LA Noire. I think The Simpsons: Hit & Run has Chief Wiggum as an unlockable character.

driver sf was pretty good tho
True. A big part of that game is stealing cars and wreaking havoc.

The PS1 game had a turn signal. I am not shitting you. Cops are patrolling the streets and will bust you for running red lights or colliding with cars.
