If there is enough public backlash, R* would make changes if need be.
With Vice City, they removed nearly all Cuban and Haitian references with their respective gangs after an
Haitian American group protested in NYC against the dialogue. Only the original PS2, Xbox and PC versions have that dialogue.
San Andreas was a big one. The leftover "Hot Coffee" sex minigame in the game files caused
a massive uproar with a class action lawsuit. As a result, modding was excised in the 2.0 PC version and that leftover code was omitted from subsequent releases.
To a lesser extent, IV received scrutiny from MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) for having the ability to
drive intoxicated. That explains why Niko would make hesitant comments when entering a vehicle after drinking.
It's possible that R* would cave in with that particular request. We'll see what happens.
