They advertised it as a "reimagining" ever since it was announced.

Why can't the devs just modernize the archaic stuff like controls and technical aspects and leave everything else alone? No one gives a fuck about their new vision and glorified plagiarism that are the remakes of games. Either make your own game or respect the vision of the original creators. And the worst thing is that whenever somebody's gonna be referring to Gothic, it's gonna be the inferior remake. Can't wait for all the new Gothic "fans" who are gonna argue how this remake is just better and you simply have rose tinted glasses, similarly to what was happening with Silent Hill 2.

The Switch version on an emulator has actually been pretty playable for me, I think it helps with the jank to use a modern controller

Is that going to be the case, tho? Nobody cares about the new Resident Evil 4 demake anymore, people still talk about the original. Nobody cares about the new Silent Hill 2 demake anymore, people still talk about the original. Nobody cares about the new Dead Rising demake anymore, people still talk about the original. Cheap imitations will always be seen as such, what flavor of the month lemmings or tourists think doesn't matter.

I am guessing this is one of the leftover Sweet Baby Inc. turds still coming out of the pipeline. Well, I hope they enjoy the unemployment line when this game flops, Gothic fanbase is pretty hardcore in Europe and the western redditors aren't going to pick up the slack and neither will casual console gamers. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 learned that the hard way when it backstabbed the fans of the original game.
 
Is this pic real or did somebody just made fun of them? If yes, this alone is enough to wish for them to be put in front of a firing squad.

Yesterday I started to play a bit 'Of Ash and Steel' which made me think about Gothic, but I'm still too early in the game to say if it's good or not.

Piranha Bytes were a bunch of Incompetent nerds with a unique nack for coming up with the least ergonomic game designs known to Man, but at least they had an out of touch charm in their works. Still the best open World Designs ever, i can still draw the G2 map from memory.

This is why I never cared for recent game remakes. Taking everything what's good and fucking it up for the "modern audience." Methinks being "ugly" is the new standard of beauty to these untalented hacks other than being a fat-ass.

Why can't they just advertise this as "Ugly Ass Tranny Fist Puncher Simulator 3000" instead? That would be a more accurate name for this game.
