I can't wait to shoot up baddies with the lethal force of Red Hood's toy guns. It's Nerf or Nothing, bitch!

And let's not forget the power rush you'll feel when you adopt the brooding intensity of Tim Drake, absolute bloody terror of the night!

Wow, looked at the Steam reviews. It is doing terribly for a AAA game that had quite a bit of hype and good will from the Arkham games. According to many reviewers this game runs like ass. Even people with 4090 RTX cards are having a hard time making the game run at 60 fps. The combat is also sluggish and not fun according to players. The idiot devs made jumping in the game be a chore in that you have to do a shit ton of moves to just be able to jump. First the Saints Row reboot and now Gotham Knights. Maybe filling your dev team with nothing but women, trannies and POC's to fill a diversity quota and raise your ESG scores wasn't such a good idea.

Was this what Ministry of Owls or whatever was supposed to be or did that get cancelled or what

Sure, but kneecapping performance for the sake of a multiplayer that barely seems to register is lol worthy.
I think that's just an excuse. OTOH it's unreal, and whenever you want to go outside what the engine itself provides you're kinda fucked, even with the asset store (that's why I find it hilarious when people way "hurr, frostbite is an FPS engine, it was never meant to do X - while fucking fifa runs on it".
not to mention the blueprint-fags that make me wish for unity asset flips...

for example as mentioned unreal doesn't really do p2p (unless that's changed the last few years, but I doubt it), so you have throw together your own shit to get it running, and that's where you need actual talent instead of hiring the latest college grad who "knows unreal". my favorite experience was a mp shooter like counterstrike, but when the host leaves everybody gets disconnected and kicked out of the match. no exp, no rewards, no anything. guess what happens when he's the first to die...

They wish, the game can only do two-player co-op.
Give me puzzle pieces if you want but this was actually a dream come true for me. On paper anyway. I have always wanted a co-op Batman game where it's just you and Robin beating up bad guys. I really wanted to like Gotham Knights, even if Batman wasn't playable in it. I had to settle for Batgirl who essentially played like a watered down Batman anyway.

The gameplay was... meh. Not terrible, but not great either. Definitely nothing like Arkham combat where I felt constant exhilaration. This game was more every once in awhile I'd go "Oh, that's cool I guess." and move on.

The story was dogshit. I have nothing else to say there, the story was just bad.

I'd argue the game was at it's best in the open world, the random crimes that could happen around Gotham for you to stop were more fun than they had any right to be. And surprisingly varied too, from bank robberies to stolen trucks, bozos trying to steal a parked car, bomb defusals, saving hostages, gang hideouts ect.
I had more fun in the game just running around the city with my friend stopping random crimes than I did playing the story.
It was super satisfying working with someone else to take down an entire group of enemies without being detected for instance.

I would kill for a game just like that but it's Batman and Robin. That right there is my dream game. Just Batman and Robin simulator. And it makes me angry that we were cheated out of that by having Batman be arbitrarily killed. Twice.
