I said it above, but I believe the reasoning was that they felt that it could be their version of Guardians of The Galaxy. An unknown team turned into stars after one film. The benefit to the Squad being that DC is best known for villains and they can cash in on Harley Quinn merch as she was already an established cash cow. If the film did well, the idea was for it to branch off into solo flicks for Deadshot and other members, which partially came true with Peace Maker. Why exactly did WB go all in with the Suicide Squad?
At first, the idea went well. They started with an animated film connected to Batman Arkham, for some reason, likely marketing, that performed well. The live action film was supposed to be a success after their test run. It came out, got shit reviews and earnings, but luckily Hot Topic bimbos saved it with the shit Harley/Joker merch. Since then, it has been a struggled to make anything of the franchise as Gunn was brought in to save it, yet his film also did poorly. The Harley spin-off was hated and way underperformed, and the second animated film probably did decent.
The game has been in development hell for years though, probably back since the first live action film came out, so it was probably made on assumptions that the series would take off. It didn’t, and only DC shills seem to really care about the new game, so it will probably be a blunder. Hopefully, Rocksteady can tank it and get a Superman title out of it.
2015’s Arkham Knight was still good, just had a shit story. Also Lego DC Supervillains is great if you count that as a Batman title.Combat looks super slow and dull. Its fucking sad that the last good Batman game came out in 2011. WB has no idea what the fuck it is doing.
