I think WB might have an agreement with Rocksteady to not touch their stuff, Arkham Origins was a prequel for a reason. That would explain why Gotham Knights is clearly building on Arkham while officially not being part of the series.
 
One of the leads on this game posted a petition to try to get Six Days in Fallujah banned, so it's getting a pirate from me at best.
 
Why can't we just get a new Batman game? Why make it a separate continuity anyway, but still no Batman?

Makes zero sense.

Just build on what the Arkham games did but start fresh story wise, why is that so hard?
 
It looked dated as hell when they first showed it, and it looks even more shitty now. I bet this game was originally planned as WB's answer to the game as a service fad that was going super strong a couple of years ago. Then Covid hit and development must've gotten fucked, so this october we're gonna get a game that might've had a slight chance before Avengers released and killed the hype for these kinda things.
Now nobody's gonna give a rat's ass about this turd.
 
just the fact that rocksteady has seemingly vanished after Knight is a pity. i doubt suicide squad will be worth it either. 7 goddamn years. honestly 2015 was probably one of the last great years for gaming overall. Knight hasn't really been topped graphics wise by many games, which is odd considering how old it really is, one of the first high profile non-cross gen games released.

Suicide Squad is going to be shit. When the two games were revealed, I had more hopes for this one even though Rocksteady is a better studio.

From the behind the scenes, it sounds like Suicide Squad is a hate project more-or-less. Rocksteady was done with Batman and ready to move onto Superman. They gave WB a pitch, but it was rejected and Warner mandated that Suicide Squad be made. Warner is super desperate to Astro-turf this shit franchise into the next Guardians of The Galaxy, so a big video game was the next step. From this, it seems like no one really has any passion, nor wanted to make a Squad game. The whole Brainiac story was likely a hold over from the previous Superman project. I wouldn’t be surprised if the final level is just a Superman tech demo.

The Superman pitch sounded pretty bad, but I would rather they fix up the idea and design a capeshit title they actually care for rather than the Guardians wannabes.

Nah, I love Batman, but it was time to move on. What should have happened was that Rocksteady developed their Superman title.

I was super into the Arkham games, so when they announced that Rocksteady would be working on a Suicide Squad game I was pretty bummed out. I was ok with them moving on from Batman, but I really don't give a shit about the Suicide Squad. As you said, it's all astroturfing and it sucks.

I was kinda hopeful for Gotham Knights. Arkham Origins was pretty good in my opinion (they kinda fucked up the skill progression, and don't get me started on the predator challenges but other than that I had a good time) so I was ok with a new game with WB Montreal at the helm. I thought hey, they could do something interesting. We could've had Tim Drake stepping up in Batman's absense, it might've been nice.

Then I saw the trailer, and god damn. Oh Batman's dead, but it's a totally different universe from Arkham! And it's multiplayer, and it had fucking damage numbers, and loot and every other flavor of the month, game as a service bullshit.
And now we have absolutely braindead shit like SOUL ENERGY, and MYSTYCAL LEAP, and Dick Grayson used to be in the circus so he flips all over the place when he fights!

Man, fuck warner bros.
 
Why exactly did WB go all in with the Suicide Squad?
Is it seriously because the first film won an oscar? I don't remember anyone really loving either movie tbh
 
The only character I'd like to play as is Red Hood, and even he sucks now thanks to how bad DC comics has become.
