I too have a huge soft spot for Gorillaz, I grew up with the band and have a lot of nostalgic memories with their songs and the first 3 albums.
Haven't really cared for them since Humanz and I couldn't be bothered to listen to the newest album, but I do hope both Jamie and Damon can still make stuff in the future.

My favorite song from them. It's a rather depressing one but its what I listened to quite a bit years ago when I felt down. Really perfect "awake late at night and contemplating life/the past" vibes.

Also bizarre how the music video was blocked in the US for so long, I still don't remember the official reason why.

Demon Days is one of my all-time favourites but I've barely listened to anything after Plastic Beach. I remember the Humanz singles being very weak compared to their previous stuff. No idea what's going on in the universe either. The new album sounds like it could be more interesting, I liked the song with Sparks.

Not technically Gorillaz but another Albarn/Hewlett project, the Monkey: Journey to the West soundtrack is worth a listen and is very nostalgic as it was also the sound of the BBC's 2008 Olympics coverage.

Gorillaz has been one of my favourite bands since I was in high school. Not only is the music great, but the interviews and animated shorts featuring the fictional band members are hilarious as well.

I know a lot of people don't like their later stuff, but I've always been fond of The Now Now, particularly the song Souk Eye.

It was probably banned due to Noodle appearing to die as the floating island gets shot down. She didn’t actually die, but it looked like she did.

I don't remember it now, but my first exposure to them was allegedly when they showed the music video of Clint Eastwood on MTV. Later on, I re-discovered their music through the album Demon Days when I was 11 or 12. Although I haven't listened to their music much post-hiatus, I still have a soft spot for Gorillaz and the music they released during phase 1-3 and even went to see them live during the Humanz tour.

This track is one of my favorites from Demon Days that doesn't appear to have been posted in the thread so far.

I used to have their first album. I remember really liking this track.

New album drops at midnight EST tonight, so far the tracks released as singles ahead of the full release point to an inverse sequel to Demon Days.

Yep, this album is like a more upbeat sequel to Demon Days, they even open with alternate recording take clips of Dennis Hopper from his monologue as part of the celebrating and remembering death theme.

Oh my god...its a Gorillaz album thats cohesive and has a clear vision and isn't just mindlessly stacked with features so Damon can shill an unknown and Jamie can actually do something interesting with the lore and characters!

Cynicism aside it feels like its been ages since a Gorillaz album felt like it had some level of focus and wasn't just an assortment of guests dicking around with Damon which seems Iike an odd thing to say because the self-titled was essentially that but it feels like after Plastic Beach imploded the newer works lack a cohesiveness that made Demon Days and Plastic Beach so special so The Mountain feels like an long overdue return to form.

I tuned out of them after the first couple, didn't really dislike it but just didn't grab me as much. I thought it was just about the funniest shit ever when one of the Gangrene Gang from Powerpuff Girls joined the group for a while
