Once I've found out how to pirate Word I've preferred the Office suite, though this is also contingent on disabling CoPilot at the kernel level
But Outlook calendar is actual trash and it's frustrating to have to use GCal instead
Yes I've debated this for about an hour now
Yes I know both are fucked by Jeet hands, what can you do. It's one or the other for most school/work/writing these days

Linux ball lickers will say shit like this rather than admit Linux is not an omnipotent OS
Fails to point out a single thing Microgoogle office can do which you can't do on Linvx award :winner:
Also OP is a humanities major (I stalked xer post history), and mentions Word by name in this post, so no chuddy, xe doesn't need access to giga advanced business enterprise power pivot tables in excel

Bruh it can't even do excel. OpenOffice is incompatible with excel and librecalc is a piece of shit. The only option for video editing is davinci resolve which is not my choice of software.

A lot of other software works like ass on Linux as well. For example audacity. It runs so slow for no reason which has nothing to do with my PC because I had it and it behaves normally before I moved to Linux. I have to do all my video and audio edit on mobile because it was that bad.

Libre office 's PowerPoint clone is bad as well. I can't remember the name because I used it one time and then close it and open canva

The only reason I didn't move back was because I can use Google sheets and I hate win 11. But otherwise I would have to move back just for excel.

What makes LibreOffice Calc a piece of shit? I get some of the stuff is in different places but it's all just menuslop anyways so it only seems slightly more annoying than Excel to me.

There are other options for video editing than davinci resolve such as kdenlive which actually has a lot more features than you would expect for a totally free open source video editor. If you couldn't use even davinci resolve for what you're doing though I guess you've just become entrenched in the familiarity of whatever it is you're using, in which case your anger should be directed at the creators of that for not making a linux port, not at linux for doing... literally nothing.

Audacity is dogshit in general lately ever since (((tantacrul))) started deviantart bloat inflating it up, maybe try an older version might run smoother.

I don't think I've tried the powerpoint equivalent for long enough to say anything about it so I'll concede that on you.

Let's start on just one thing: librecalc lack cell formatting. When I copy over my data I have to format every cell one by one because they disappear when you paste data into it.
If you don't believe me try it yourself. Format with cell wrap and copy text into it, it'll disappear. Why is it a big deal? I have 100s of data I have to put in and I'm not going to waste my time formatting manually

Kdenlive is ass. I used it and capcut or even Sony stock video editor is better than it.

I never said Linux was bad. I said braindead fans are unwilling to admit that Linux is not an omnipotent OS. I like Linux but I also need to use specific pieces of software in work, which seems to be something you can't understand. I'm not going to fucking use davinci when I only need to edit a simple video

If you hand a Linux laptop to me and tell me I have to use it for my work without a window VM, I'm going to quit on the spot.

I get Microsoft 365 through my job. tbdesu I lose track of if I'm on that or the google version sometimes and anytime coworkers need help doing online I use the same ideas on both and they work about as good for "hit buttons until it works"

Audacity has always been dogshit for anything but the very most trivial of audio editing. Linux autists and their "I have no experience with this kind of software, but somehow I'm still confident that the FOSS alternative is Just As Good™" mantra are infuriating.

They have the techbro smugness they can't tell normies hate.

I hate when they're like "learn xyz to do something that's trivial on window on Linux " I'm just some desk jockey bro not a programmer. One unironically said I should use blender to edit vids and it was so stupid I'm not even going to bother replying to him
