Google gets told by the courts - Fined 3.6B in Europe, told to remove links by Canada

So Google had a bit of a legal smackdown recently. They were fined 3.6 billion for inserting shopping links into its results in Europe, then ordered by the Supreme Court of Canada to remove all links to a company that stole the intellectual property of some network hardware.

This has some people claiming that the Canadians opened the door for other results to be wiped by other countries or people.

The attacks on net neutrality are getting quite brazen, aren't they?

Building an internet censorship infrastructure is incredibly expensive. Especially for a country where about 90% of the population lives within 100 miles of the US border. How much infrastructure do they share with Americans?

I feel like my country's afraid of what they don't know. Fuck, they've been shortchanging their internet users for a shitload of money (Bell currently makes people pay 150$ CAD, Internet shouldn't cost that fucking much).

I blame Justin Trudeau on this as well what Harper did with businesses there. Like seriously, the fucker gave Canada's resources for a pittance to China. Businesses now want to find any way possible to save their companies.

I'm kind of torn. Whilst it does seem like a pretty petty reason to extort money from them I'm also wary of companies like Google and the other tech giants from becoming too powerful.

I mean someone mentioned Net-Neutrality earlier... as-if Google and co aren't harvesting your personal data to try and flog you more stuff.
