For the second year in a row, Google has canceled April Fools.

Business Insider has obtained an internal email stating that Google will not create a series of elaborate and occasionally entertaining April Fools pranks this year. Google confirmed the memo to Business Insider, and to us, too.

“In 2020, we made the decision to pause our longstanding Google tradition of celebrating April Fools’ Day, out of respect for all those fighting COVID-19. With much of the world still grappling with serious challenges, we will again pause the jokes for April Fools’ Day in 2021,” reads a statement.

Microsoft did a funny april fools joke this year by setting my computers RAM usage to max for some mysterious reason. Trying to solve that was really funny.

Arrrrg. Conflicted!

On the one tentacle, I detest April Fools in the age of the internet. I don't mind when websites do jokey redesigns or something, but what I hate is that you have an entire day where you can't trust any "news". Your favorite game series is back? Lol, no. A movie you were looking forward to is canceled? Just joking, bro!

But on the other prehensile penis, "We can't have jokes because something bad is going on" is obnoxious, virtue-signalling bullshit. If people find April Fools funny, good, then fucking do it. People deserve to be able to smile. And just because April Fools tends to make me want to punch straight through my monitor doesn't mean apparently a lot of people don't enjoy it.

Google finally did it.
They have finally become a soulless entity.
 
They probably don't even wanna spend the money to do them anymore honestly, they'd rather be funding their staffs transitions or some other stupid shit like tweaking results so gorillas don't show up when you reverse image search a photo of a black person.
