Oh fuck you're right, why the hell is she so wide? Her shoulders are as broad as Naser's, I just presumed she was a troon because of it.

She's just a thicc girl. Lots of real women have broad shoulders.
She's also a stegosaurus and Naser is a pterodactyl, Reed being a velociraptor.
I will say, I only ever met two GVH defenders (one being Nanaki), the other person said how this game hit for'em despite being an unfinished and clearly rushed out the door. But, I feel like maybe it's because GVH feels like this power fantasy? Like, if we break it down in GVH Fang is a HUGE bitch to everyone. starting from her parents, her love interest and ending at two of her best friends. At no point does anyone of' 'em go "Ya know what? Fuck you bitch!", nor does Fang admit she was wrong. Things just get handed to her in the end, despite her bitchy behavior.
I think that's my biggest problem with GBVH. None of Fangs friends defend themselves against her, everyone just kowtows to her bullshit personality meanwhile Fang acts like a brat. I get that they're all teenagers, and I think that it is definitely possible to tell a story about LGBT youth without being obnoxiously woke about it. But you cannot write an enby in what I would consider a favourable light because the "gender" expression as a whole is incredibly narcissistic and self-centered. Some trans people are narcissistic and self-centered too, absolutely, but I've come across a couple of very human stories from people who just happened to be trans (as in, not your stereotypical kiwifarms thread-haver).

Every single facet about the story being told is being told through the lens of "twans and nonbinaries can do no wrong!" as evident of both Sage and Rosa, and Fang as a whole. I forget if Rosa trooned out due to younger siblings needing more attention than him or if it was Sage who pooned out for those reasons, but I overall don't remember any parts of Sage or Rosa's stories, and Fang is such an unlikeable main character who sounds like she's ready to give up on life and go commit a school shooting.

This might come off as slightly "MATI" but here me out. The problem lies with these people and the types that make these stories come with an air of bitterness. They can't help BUT to be obnoxious about it which is why their stories don't resonate. We got proven with this whole debacle and how Snoot Game started as a bit of a dunk on the devs who got paid government money to make a VN that Japanese dudes can make in a couple of months alone and it somehow gives a better story and characterization than GVH. These peolpe are obsessed with telling you their story in that college lecture way where it's slapped in your face and you're expected to sit and just listen. They don't understand why people prefer other stories and it isn't because of sexist this, whateverphobic that, cis that it's because those stories treat the audience with respect as well as being entertaining. Games like this and the subject matters aren't entertaining when made by these folks because they don't care enough to make them entertaining.

Well, I finally gave Snoot Game a try or the real GVH. It’s definitely far superior than GVH where that game barely had characters and barely a story, this one actually has characters and they all have nuance to them that isn’t explained to you in irritating soliloquies and exaggerated melodrama.

My only real complaint, although this was technically a first for its kind and it kind of suits Anon’s character who is essentially a jackass, is that the best choice outcomes in this game are essentially being nice, very very nice.

I don’t really know why people wouldn’t speak up about Fang’s guitar playing prowess during the convo with her band or why someone would try to joke or lie I guess when they’re caught in a situation where an act they did really hurt them. Maybe I’m just an eternal normie or something. That’s my only “complaint”.

Someone just released a post E2 fangame called Age After Beauty

7 years after the beach, Anon finds himself caught between two worlds. Forced to work as a substitute teacher and teach a classroom of delinquents. But not all is as it seems. He must choose to either embrace a new life or reject it outright.

Kudos for original setting and pairing i guess.

It'll be interesting to see how they do an E2 Anon, so many fics cop out and just make him realise his problems when an E2 Anon is defined by being a doomer who doesn't think he can change.
I’ve been hearing this game had a sizable AO3 line up and a lot of the stuff is samey and tacky. Cope fics that basically sand down Anon as a character or they just have him find Jesus or something. They’re also so tonally melodramatic.

I've played through Roberts route (one of two) and its just kind of fine, the writing isn't anything amazing with the pacing seeming a bit odd at points but it got a few chuckles out of me and it did an E2 Anon well enough to the point where it never took me out of it, the art is generally good though the OC students obviously being someone's OCs.

EDIT: Finished Stella's route, it has a similar breakneck pace but since you likely already know Stella from Snoot its not as bad. It could definitely do with being a bit longer especially for Roberts to help flesh her out more as a character but my verdict still stands on it being fine.

So many people on there take Anon, change fundamental aspects of the character turning him into something that he isn't and it always makes me question why even have Anon at that point.

Decided to check out Age Before Beauty. I'm not too terribly far into it but so far it's okay, definitely a step up from Last Second Save the writing and characters are done better and the polish is there in a way the Last Second Save lacks. With that said it hasn't really done anything to hook me so far, I'm just past the point where Anon and Stella reconnect and it seems like it's going to be a choice between her and Mrs. Roberts. So far I'm leaning heavily towards Stella but we'll see where the road takes us, I'm playing blind first time through just picking the options that I think make the most sense and then I'll go back through with a guide to get the other scenes and endings.

So far the overall impression is positive though, the writing has the Snoot Game charm so hopefully the endings can hold up as well.

ETA: I just finished Act I and I do not like Roberts even one bit. We'll see if the game can pull this out otherwise it's going to be on Stella to save this.

Finished my first play through of Age Before Beauty, playing blind I got Ending C which is the Misty romance ending, I then speedran Endings A & B as well, currently going through Ending D but my thoughts so far are "I really don't understand the praise this mod is getting".

Endings A&B are both just retard tests, you have to be functionally brain dead to actually get either of them and they're totally underwhelming lacking the punch of either of Snoot Game's dedicated bad ends.

Ending C is basically a total bummer, I didn't connect with Misty at all and the entire plot line was rushed like crazy, the resolution to Misty's problems is just this side of nonexistent to the point where I just simply cannot fathom why Anon would fall for her, let alone marry her. Doubly so when her alcoholism drives her to a medical emergency and then she continues to go behind Anon's back and drink. Triply so when her reason for alcoholism is just so trite to begin with and is never explored or expanded upon. Ending C also seems like it's the "default" route so to speak since it's the one that pairs you with the mod's box art character but also because it's the route that picking the actually smart options that have you maintain your cover and act as a good teacher gets you. The fact that Misty acts like a blushing teenage girl despite presumably being in her 50s is also a source of consternation for me with this route.

So far Stella's route is underwhelming me as well since it reads less as an AnonxStella romance and more as a wish fulfillment fanfic for a continuation of Snoot Game ending 3 where Sad Lucy and Chadnon work through their issues and heal, which come to think of it is I think the same issue that Ending C of Age Before Beauty probably also has. It feels like this author really liked Ending 3 of Snoot Game and wanted to try to turn Ending 2 into that sort of hopeful bittersweet ending, but then completely misses the hopeful undertones that make Ending 3 into the best ending.

I'll let you know my full thoughts once I finish Ending D, but I'm not holding out too much hope since the Stella romance has also been paced really badly thus far and the aforementioned fact that this is effectively just Ending 3 Lucy wearing Stella's skin.

EDIT: a word

To be fair, that seems par for the course for Snoot Game. I haven't played Wani yet, I will eventually, but I really don't know how you could get ending 1 or 2 unless you're just a big of a jackass as Anon is. I don't really know why you'd try to lie or sweet talk your way out of admitting you were at the concert laughing at Fang, I don't know why you wouldn't stand up for her when she's bringing up her guitar playing skills, and I don't really know why you'd try to fuck with Trish's set up when they're clearly practiced musicians. The only choices I can see people genuinely flubbing are the rooftop convo which has a rhythm that someone might miss or someone might emotionally fuck with Trish at the tail end of the story for good reasons. That's what I did and I got Ending 3, which is the best written ending compared to 4, but that's a side tangent.

You mention alcoholism and I remember perusing the AO3 line up and there was another story about alcoholism. It wasn't great, but, compared to others, it did at least try something different with the setting. I can't remember the details of the setting, but essentially she was a combat veteran whose team had to make this Spec Ops The Line type choice and the government fucked her over. The drinking helps cool her PTSD, but it also accentuates her anti social behavior and she, kind of rightfully, acts like a bitch towards a politician who is recruiting her to do some kind of deed for Fang, who has a different role than Snoot Game.

I'll see if I can find it, but despite the kind of sloppy writing, it did actually do alcoholism right.
