I travel a lot and need to exchange currency and use different currencies than $.

I used to have a card that was called Revolut. Revolut was really good because you could exchange your currency in it to any other currency for free and it would take less than a minute for it to process. I could also take it with me abroad and use the card in 99% of occasions with 0% fee on using the card abroad. also you can withdraw cash up to 700$ I think and pay 0 commission. Revolut has different limits depending on what country you got it from so the limit might be different depending where you are from.

Unfortunately, a while back Canada discontinued its service for the card very abruptly with no notice at all. and the forums lacked information and just said they were done. Typical.

I rushed around the web to look for an alternative and found a mention of 'Stack' somewhere(probably reddit since it is a shit card) the card is total crap. you can't really exchange currency, they just claim that you wont pay foreign exchange fees when using it abroad, the app is RIDDLED with ads, it was nothing that I wanted.

My question is do any of you know of any card or bank app that is like Revolut with 0$ exchange fee. Preferebly in Canada and the US.

Fidelity Cash Management accounts get you a debit card that has free ATM withdrawals anywhere on the planet. Even if the local bank indicates that there is an ATM fee, Fidelity will refund the fee to your account.

Charles Schwab has a similar card available.

Most banks offer a travel credit card with spot rate exchanges. They usually also come with stuff like business class lounge access, more miles you can rack up, automatic travel insurance, theft & loss insurance, etc.

Example: https://www.scotiabank.com/ca/en/personal/credit-cards/visa/passport-infinite-card.html

Edit: switched example to a Canadian card

Wise (Formally Transferwise) is what you're looking for, very reliable.

You can hold different currencies and get A/C numbers to receive funds too in different countries.

The issue with scotiabank is that it has an annual fee. Revolut didn't have an annual fee.

I have a Wise account, It's ok but there is a slight commission you have to pay when exchanging currency.

To be fair, Revolut also sounds like it wasn't a credit card. How'd they make money if they weren't charging a fee? I find myself wondering what you do for a living if you travel a lot but annual fees are a barrier for you--personally, the benefits of those annual fee cards are well worth it if you travel often.

You have a few options, none of which are with major banks, but it sounds like that isn't an major roadblock for you:
Rogers World Elite Mastercard
Home Trust Preferred Visa
Brim Financial Mastercard

My friend recently got an Apple credit card that has no foreign transaction fees and they always know where you are because they track you through your phone, how convenient! They also let you transact and pay balances in any currency I'm pretty sure, that's if your willing to stomach the insane apr and being chained to an iPhone for the rest of your life given Goldman is the issuer.

Did someone mention Vivid yet? Can't shill hard enough for the guys at Vivid. You should look into getting a Vivid card, they're made of metal. Very durable. If only I could remember the name of the company that issues it. I think it was something like Vivid or something.
