“Alana, oh my gosh! What’s wrong with you? You look so frightened to me… depressed and unhappy. I saw this yesterday too. Please, say something, sweetheart…Alana…I wanted to talk to you since yesterday but… as you know… I had no time… I had to leave…
I have this boyfriend, Alfonso. He is a dance instructor and I am out, nearly every night, with him… dancing in bars and restaurants because we love the salsa dance.
Look, Alana, over the day I work so hard in the beauty salon for both of us to bring money home to pay for our expenses. I bought you everything you ever asked me for, and I even paid with credit cards when I did not have the money and we are now in debt. In deep debt…I know… I abandoned you somehow because I never have enough time for you. Forgive me… But I am still your mother! Tell me what’s going on? But please, don’t tell me that you are pregnant? Are you in trouble again with the law or with this young man? I forgot his name… Alana…he is twenty-one years old and he is just too old for you.” (pages 96-97).
“Mom, please! I know you are working hard for both of us but I also realize that I never had a real father because you are now three times divorced. I am aware that all men run away from you when they find out about your true character… because you are a gold digger. I know that you are horsing around with many different men at the same time and that you are never there when I need you. You dumped Alfonso several times but you are still together with him. I hate Alfonso! And…I hate you!” (pages 97-9![]()
Honestly, that makes the whole thing way more interesting.Following the revelation of Teschs' financials and home life, I began thinking a lot about the character of Lindsey Terrance, the mother of Maradonia's chief human antagonist Alana. Specifically, this gem of a confessional (from Gold of Ophir):
Also, this rebuttal from Alana:
At first, I thought this was all just a handy way for Tesch to demonize her antagonists even more. I mean, "single unmarried ho-ho neglectfully letting her daughter go Goth" is more than sufficient for a villain written by fundies. But is anyone else thinking Gloria may have been writing what she knew a little too close to home?

Can't really call it subtext if Gloria just, say, wrote down what was happening at home.Unfortunately there is also the fact that we can safely assume that any subtext in Maradonia is most certainly unintended.
Are you able to verify this?![]()
Any asshole on Facebook can follow a public Facebook page or follow someone's Twitter if it's not locked. Several Kiwis follow Gloria's twitter. So what exactly is your point?Dude she's young enough to be your daughter
That you're putting a lot of effort into defending her, and Gloria has a ton of creepy older male fans. People are questioning your motives for the same reason they question the motives of people who post a bunch about how she's totally going to do porn someday.Any asshole on Facebook can follow a public Facebook page or follow someone's Twitter if it's not locked. Why not? He ignored the part where Maya randomly bitches about her father forbidding her from having a boyfriend due to age/being conservative Christians. Can't really call it subtext if Gloria just, say, wrote down what was happening at home.
I'll be the first to admit the theory takes a hit when you remember the Good Doctor has wrestled control of the series, so it would seem strange that he'd leave in such a candid admission of a broken home life, even if just in the mouths of the antagonists.
Just go to

too bad @Thundersteam hasn't found her nudes in the media section
You mean the section that you can only access if you give a monthly donation to the Farms?
Sorry. I don't think Glo-Glo is that deep or capable of interspersing real life events in a believable way in her writing.Following the revelation of Teschs' financials and home life, I began thinking a lot about this gem of an exchange (from Gold of Ophir) between Alana Terrance, the chief human antagonist, and her mother Lindsey:

What I want to know is this: what, exactly, does Gloria have against 'the salsa dance'? The Gothic movement, okay, rainbow unicorns, if you must, environmentalism, well, she's a fundie... but salsa dancing? What did that ever do to her?I have this boyfriend, Alfonso. Salsa equals unrestrained sexuality equals Hispanic equals Not American. What I want to know is this: what, exactly, does Gloria have against 'the salsa dance'?
