I saw your post about shitty German writers & have a gem of my own: when I was younger, I had a godawful story about a female German fighter pilot who was a descendant of
Manfred von Richthofen; her love interest was a descendant of
the man credited with killing him, & his BFF was a descendant
of the man The Red Baron had been pursuing just before his death (& their names were Anastasia von Richthofen, Carson Brown, & Willie May, respectively). If I remember correctly, Anastasia was captain of her squadron, & was constantly at odds with one of her subordinates, Philippe (a descendant of
Georges Guynemer) because he was black & French. & she was like a former Neo-Nazi or something & her parents died trying to get over the Berlin Wall & escape into West Germany in the late 80s. & at one point everybody was visited by the ghosts of their respective ancestors & it made absolutely no sense.
