just to show how desperate they are to hire people, just got a text from AT&T about salesmen with a 1k hiring bonus, the reason this shows desperation is that they're using a phone number from 2 years ago to contact me. they're reaching that far back for poeple
1k hiring bonus sounds like a pittance though. Are you sure they're that desperate?

thats probably why, i got the text which is rather crazy to me considering how long ago i even gave them my info, not a single follow up for the job application, i was sending it to everyone on indeed too, so for them to contact me now when they didn't bother 2+ years ago is crazy, beyond that it would have never worked.

Having said that i have noticed how everyone is short staffed around me, almost every business needs people so places like target are getting K-mart level employees working places now. 10% discount advertised. papa johns will pay for delivery drivers gas and some mileage.

I know we constantly get people leaving because the money is too good elsewhere and the company announced no COL raises.

even going to resturants, during what should be dinner rush (or at least the tale end of it) and it seemed like they only had 3 waitresses for the entire building, they were shit too, didn't know anything about what was on the menu nor came over to ask for a refill on any of our drinks, on mixed alcohol thats about $40 she missed out on, translates to about a $8 tip she left on the table.

literally basic stuff that makes me feel that even my abrasive personality could do better job. Beyond that they ran out of quite a few of the beers on tap. Mind you its not like this was a hole in the wall joint, it was a chain restaurant who's entire schtick revolves around beer, you shouldn't be running out. of the staples especially when there's so few people in the resturant.

i've also seen ads for cooks where they're clearing about $50k, so if we're at the point where we're giving meth heads an honest wage you know shits fucked.

That happened to me in 2021 when the employee shortage first hit. I was checking my email and some company I had applied for back in mid-2018 (and might have interviewed for even, didn't remember back then, don't remember now) who never called me back/messaged me back sent a message begging for an interview. Since I was unfortunate enough to keep my job in the scamdemic (despite my hours being cut and needing a part-time job to make the $600/week people were getting from sitting on their ass, I will be eternally salty over that bullshit, fuck every Republican and Democrat who supported that), I had zero need for this job so completely ignored them like they ignored me for 3 years.

Protip, if your company is too fucking lazy to even send an automated "thank you, but we won't require your services at this time" message to people whose applications/interviews they reject, then you don't get to beg people for interviews 3 years later. I've heard so much bullshit about how people are hired I wouldn't be surprised if the "employee shortage" is mostly a product of really shitty HR software auto-rejecting applications and companies with bad hiring departments.

The salt will be eternal for that my friend. I stand by my assertion that getting people in a position to not have to work and printing something like 20% of the currency in circulation in a year caused this inflation. People made more money not working than they did at their jobs before and no one stopped to question who was going to pay for it!

I got another raise at work, but I feel zero joy from this since my raise percentage isn't enough to offset the cost of damn well E V E R Y T H I N G.

Worse, it seems like everything in my life decided to break at the very same time. Car is fucking up, washer broke, laptop needs a new battery, etc...

I have nothing to useful to contribute to this thread, it just felt like the best place to bitch. I can feel myself turning into a doomer.

What’s even more infuriating is everyone from the media to leftard redditfags playing dumb and having ‘no idea’ why inflation is so bad.

Without PLing too much, I'll just say that I work in the trades. Last year I made the transition from non-union to union and effectively doubled my rate. I'm glad I did, because nowadays I have the same purchasing power that I did before and don't know how I would have made it on the money I was making.

I just got a call for a help desk job FOR THE COMPANY I JUST LEFT BARELY OVER A MONTH AGO. Shit must be turbo-fucked.

I know isn't it awesome? If you're even half way competent you're basically immune to getting fired.
We went from 19 to 8 people in my department just from attrition to competitors over the last year. I think I'd have to no-call no-show for at least a week to get kicked out.

I think the culling is going to start soon at the second job I am working at, my IT team is putting out mini projects to prove their worth to people

its especially true because of A.how easy it seemingly was and B. it was the first time a lot of people ended up in the system, so a lot of people finally got to know what "rock bottom" was like outside of the myths forced upon people by adults. turns out for plenty of people, it was even better than working. a fuckload of people i know had savings for the first time. so many people avoided a lot of places because of the rona so vacations were even better than normal. imagine getting off-season level service during the height of the pandemic!

its a lot harder to demand people work when they get $1000k a week sitting on their hands.

At a certain point you'd have to wonder why you're staying. unless you're making a fuckload on overtime why stick around?

I work IT, for the past three months this has basically been me and they can't do fuck all about it.

Because they do.
I assume our competitors pay more, but I work like 20 hours a week max, don't have to go to the office, and plan on leaving the area in the next few years. Don't really want to switch companies and burn someone.... or move (and then move again within the year).... or be asked to actually work.
Easy way to explain it is that I'm salaried, but the work should be seasonal, so we're enormously overstaffed for most of the year. That plus working from home is hard to pass up on. Spend half the year out of state "working".

It's the same thing as the retards blaming everything on "covid" or "Putin." I never knew a virus or the president of another country had so much power on the economy of my own country. It's one of the most powerful propaganda strategies they use since they know it makes the midwits in the world into their useful idiots in screeching at "antivaxxers" or supporting nuclear war with Russia over Hunter Biden's favorite place to stash money and pick up child hookers.

Germans could switch to wood this winter to heat their homes as Russia withholds natural gas, Deutsche Bank says

‘The situation is more than dramatic’: Germany is rationing hot water and turning off the lights to reduce natural gas consumption

Germany’s energy rationing fears are starting to get all too real.

Side note what wood Germany has the same idiotic policies when it comes to woodstoves like Norway because muh particles, you aren't allowed to build the masonry fireplaces who have huge thermal mass to keep the warmth for hours after the fire is out and plus use it for cooking not joking my jaw dropped when we used the environmentally friendly woodstove we have at home on how much wood it uses . Basic laws of physics and engineering that simple 18th century peasants get is something bellow these retards and out of their mental reach .

Btw we in Norway are going to get bend over the barrel again here one of the major industries is fucking wood production and plenty of people use it for heating right after they doubled the pricee of electricity by selling it to the danish who in turn sell it to the Germans. Can someone do another shoah to these roaches that bleed us dry for resources

I just need to vent for a minute since I'm banned everywhere:

One of my wife's aunts told her that they're selling the family home for a reasonable price that we can afford, but has to go through the relatives that have a stake in the house first. Fucking great we're down.

2 months later and we've been pre approved for a loan and all that shit and she calls us up and tells her that a realtor can sell it for 20k more and the only way she can do it is if we talk my Mother in Law out of her share of the house. I'm fucking enraged right now that these cunts have the balls to try to use us.
Absolutely fucked up.

PL here, but similar story different ending.

My dad passed away a few years ago, and I was his only child but he married a woman with a group of kids, which I grew up with. They ended up separating several years later, but the kids still viewed him as their dad even after separation.

He had no will, and his estate would be what you normally expect. House, 401k, savings, insurance, etc. So not a "I retire now" chunk of change but definitely not insignificant either.

I would have been well within my legal rights to not give them a give dime, and arguably ethically right as well. But I'm not a selfish fucking shithead that lives for the shekel and respected his personal will (internal, not legal).

Anyone who tries to make money from the loss of a family member is absolute scum.

Kind of normal for large, disjointed organizations. Recruiters are just using algorithms and key words without even looking at any of the context. It's hilarious when you're in the position to tell a recruiter that you make 2x to 3x more than the position because it's not even a bargaining discussion at that point.

I‘m an IT janitor for a school and my school district finally realized they need more help to take care of the increasing amount of technology at schools. They doubled the number of computer tech positions, but are having a hard time finding candidates
