I've only saw that clip of gameoverse that's been doing the rounds on xitter and fucking hell why can't the western animation industry hire voice actors that speak normally? They do it in the exact same cadence they use to read out memes in a character's voice for twitter likes it's so awful.

It feels like when they design the characters for indie internet cartoons now the main priority is ensuring people will draw porn of them.

A lot of the show feels like they wanted this really cool premise of "Videogame heroes travel between game worlds to help villains win while the villains must help the hero of that world win" and decided to warp the story around it's plot holes, but they barely tried. The idea of doing the reverse and sabotaging the hero or trying to stop the conflict doesn't exist.
Also how does this shit even work tbh? So they're video game characters... So are all video games connected somehow? Also why are they planets in space if they're video games? Who created them? Humans? Aren't games supposed to be played by humans? So wouldn't the heroes just be shells controlled by whoever is playing the game? Like what is the logic here? Also why does completing the game destroy everything when you technically should be able to play any game over and over again? Are they all live service games that get shut down when the player wins? :story: So many stupid questions.

Wreck-It Ralph handled all of this shit in a better way. This is just Wreck-It Ralph but retarded.

Nigger it's a pilot episode, how the fuck can you compare a movie to a single episode and think it's not retarded.

I really don't like Glitch's shitty fanbase or the cast but judging the quaity of the show by the person that made it makes no sense. If a tranny or a pretentious dickcheese made a good show it's a good show made by a tranny or a pretentious dickcheese (lmao that's as rare as it gets). Trying to defame it with opinions like "it's not funny" or "the character looks too sexy" isn't any less braindead than a tumblr fujoshi fuming at a heterosexual couple because it's heteroslop for straggots >>>or something of that sorts
Overall, some of you sound no different than a tranny with the amount of bad faith arguments made here.

"bad faith arguments"

Wreck-It Ralph 2 was also a movie and is arguably just as horrendous, if not worse than this.

This wasn't an indie project made by a small team in their free time. This was made by a production studio with a budget put into a team of writers and actors to revise a dead cartoon pitch by an egotistical friend of Egoraptor who compares himself to Akira Toriyama. It is just as applicable to criticism as any TV show or big budget film. Maybe you could give it the excuse that it's free entertainment but most of what I've seen here seems to suggest how this could be improved rather than tearing it down outright.

Let's see YOU have a go at it nigger!
I'll humor you. I think the premise seems promising (premising?), the fact that main characters of each world try to stop the Syntax from destroying the world and harvesting Float by helping out the clueless villain as the actual villains help the clueless hero is a cool twist. It's similar to Wreck-It-Ralph but Wreck-It-Ralph was about a villain try to be a hero while Gameoverse is about heroes defeating villains by helping the in-universe villain stop the in-universe hero or convince the in-universe hero to stop, and it's not just a few games it seems. I like that the concept is pretty flexible and can apply to any kind of game, be it a cooking game a racing game or a visual novel (funnily enough the credits had an ace attorney reference, can't wait to see how they'll handle that)
Wreck-It Ralph 2 was also a movie and is arguably just as horrendous, if not worse than this
What? Ralph breaks the internet was a giant Disney advertiser with piss poor representation of the internet and a bunch of OOC nonsense. I stand vindicated, a pilot episode of a fresh series is not comparable to a movie OR a sequel of a movie.

So actually analyzing and criticizing its lack of logic is a bad faith argument?
Sir, I think you may be retarded.
I stand vindicated
That's not how you spell retarded.

gameoverse is extremely mid, very uninspired and its big gimmick is le meta good heroes vs le meta bad villians but role swapped their objective from winning to not winning and being le bad from being le good (its actually bad), excuse my retarded french from earlier but this complete reddit narrative spin is junk along with the gay emotional writing that echoes something along of the lines "i learnt empathy at 25", i did like the connection of the paper being the same paper that kit read during her game world, i also don't have high hopes for egofaptor to keep that annoying voice for flappers for later episodes,
thoughever the goonbait brown cat, jschlatt robot and not banjo kazooie music pulls this turd out of the water and floats by, but it isn't bad enough to laugh at or good enough to care

which i did gloss over the other pilots and they're also kind of dogshit
- gaslight district has a lot of soul but reads like shit visually, sometimes its great but other times i can't fucking read it / glance at the visuals and tell what i'm looking at - this is a combination of being default sloppy 3d and kind of dogshit composition. it just fucking sucks when it is so action packed, it just hurts to look at when it reads so poorly. but i don't like the vagueposting story nonsense, when can i get a simpleton story for once, if i wanted to read a deep story, i would read that crap (i wouldn't). i recall the dialogue being OK out of all the pilots so far that isn't smg4 slop. probably the best but where the fuck is it? at least this is kind of interesting
- knights of guinevere, truly the most gayest show - i've never seen that owl house show on tv but i kind of get what they're going for, "disney is bad but i love consuming disney movies, star wars characters and story is so cool but i fucking hate the greedy company" - but it's just not for me, as i simply didn't care nor do i care for the extreme high/low class divide - it lacks a strong chinese flavor for my liking. but the aesthetics is kind of weird, the futuristic glowy sci fi shit mixed with magical knights, mixes in too much that doesn't feel right, should've done a red steel 2 - keep the oriental oriental and the yeehaw yeehaw but don't meld them in a gay way, which this show is so fucking gay and made for dykes, i do not like it at all
- murder drones, while i've seen the series front to back - the pilot is very notorious and very disconnected from the actual series, which again vagueposting slop tumblr faggot writing, so whacky and zany in this wild bouncy fag rollercoaster ride, really the fact that main character is named UZI and doesn't use an UZI and instead uses a SNIPER RIFLE is so fucking stupid, just give her a normal name like karen or ihavedaddyissues or whatever. very bad & vagueposty / flys over my head nonsense storytelling too. also cosplaying as N will probably net you freaky sex if you go to a con or the tadc movie premiere

i can't believe tadc is still the best out of all these indie slop, took 8 billion episodes to actually do something and it has retarded motion blur turned on,

So actually analyzing and criticizing its lack of logic is a bad faith argument?

What a compelling analysis here, oh my!

All you did was sealion the discussion. I'm not gonna bother spoonfeeding you explanations, either wait for the story to expand or interpret shit on your own, retard.

huh. dunno why i didn't see this in your post but good to know. sad to hear the guy sounds scummy.

Okay, let's review. We can't criticize the company. We can't criticize the writing and we can't criticize the creator or cast...
So what CAN we criticize then you dumb fucking nigger?

You're trying REALLY HARD to not just admit you're mad people are talking shit about what is clearly your new favorite show. :story:

Okay, let's review. We can't criticize the company. We can't criticize the writing and we can't criticize the creator or cast...
You can't criticize the show BY criticizing the actions of a cast outside of their work on the show, that's it. I didn't say anything you said, shithead.
This is the third time I said this but a pilot episode is not fucking comparable to a movie and so far nobody proved me wrong on it.
My main point is that you can criticize anything you want as long as you can properly explain why. Blanket statements like "reddit show" is barely a criticism and criticizing something as subjective as humor is like hating strawberry and bananas on a waffle, which is what I do, but I don't complain about how it's bad and how people who like it are retarded. I just say "it's not for me really" and move on. Have some nuance for God's sake.
I guess I should've said "subjective opinions" on your third quote of me instead of "opinions", sorry bout that guyzz 😔😔😔
Though if I tried as hard as you said, I'd just cry that you used r-word and hard r! the ableist and black slur! how dare you!

Modern Western cartoons have sucked for years and anime surpassed them in popularity. Now Western cartoons try to be anime including emulating the stilted voice acting of a dub.

The gooner pandering is because they're planning on tons of porn of Kit and the female villain getting made by the existing fans which will attracting new gooners to the show who will can buy the merch Glitch had made before the first episode.

I'm of the opinion that pilots/first episodes should clearly and firmly establish the base ground rules within the universe desu

Misleading title. This video is actually about the female protagonists and their dynamic with the main male character.
N is a side character in a main character role, dude almost does nothing of substance through the entire show except stand there, occasionally fight and be Uzi's bf after turning in the pilot, Jax is someone I can argue is co-main character at this point given how much the drama essentially revolves around him by the latter half of the series.

Fair enough, personally speaking, explaining base rules in the first chapter of a story takes the mystique out of it, it's not a game you know (even though it's themed around it lol), also Chekhov's Gun exists so something left unexplained isn't automatically a giant plot hole.

Also am I the only one that rolled my eyes when it was revealed that for whatever reason the planet goes apeshit when they just tell them that completing the game destroys the planet?
It really feels like someone randomly brought it up while they were writing the story and they somehow hadn't thought of such an easy solution before
>So uhhh why don't they just TELL them not to complete the game?
>UHHHHHH THE PLANET IS ALIVE AND GOES APESHIT IF YOU DO!
>BRILIANT!

But I know it wasn't because he's been trying to greenlight this shit for like.... 12 years or something?
It's just to add some additional edgy creepypasta style iconography.

There's no reason Gobbles couldn't have just told Flappers, Flappers thinks Gobbles is a villain trying to trick him, and then Kit says "we've tried that before, it never works."

Thinking about the setting of the series more, I feel like the worldbuilding could have been set up much easier and cleaner if they just wrote the pilot from the chronological timeline, it was so jarring for me to watch going from the opening scene in when Kit's world was destroyed and then that Sephiroth-looking guy showed up before then switching to them in the ship where they were all now somewhat experienced and more knowledgeable in what they were doing, wouldn't it make sense for both the main characters AND the audience to uncover the nature of their universe simultaneously?

This also has the added benefit of making all the exposition much more naturalistic, rewatching the pilot made me realize how many times the characters, both the MCs and the antagonists were replaying info they should already know to each other, imagine if the MCs were fresh recruits still getting the hang of things, that would even make the occasional screw-ups they were falling into in the actual episode more understandable, given they are still adjusting and learning about their new life objective.

The most likely reason they didn't do this is the dolphin and barney can't be present at that point, I guess they really want those two creatures to be main characters from the get go instead of waiting for the rest of the season to be made for them to show up.

Yeah, sure dude. I'm not gonna derail the thread any further with this retarded slap fighting.
But yeah, you're a retard. Clearly you did give a shit or you wouldn't have said anything at all.

Yeah exactly, it could've been explained away in a less contrived way than "We just can't, okay?!"
