It wasn't just Black books and Father Ted, he also did the IT Crowd and Count Arthur Strong... He was always a bit of a dick, but the only arguement that can be made for him being a loser is that he refused to kowtow to a bunch of mentally ill troons for the sake of his career.
I'll eat the late ratings and say that Glinner was on a downward spiral since diving into the gamer gate faggotry when he had absolutely no skin in the game. The count dankula shit didn't help either. (I don't find dankula particularly admirable, but feel like comedians should show some solidarity with each other.) I still like the shows he worked on, but the dude has clearly had his brain rotted by social media. There are much better people to root for in this troon war bullshit.

Pretty sure they're not allowed to infer anything negative from silence before a suspect's had a chance to retain counsel. Your right to silence still exists it's just... really really weak.
That was what the govenrment claimed when they brought in the changes, however in practice the Police are allowed to offer you a phone call with the 'Duty Solicitor' and that counts as access to council.

After they got rid of the right to silence, they started to make a few more adjustments to the court process, starting with restricting Jury trials.

A few years back stories started appearing of accussed rapists who were defending themselves in court cross examining their victims.

The governement brought in legislation to stop this, which meant that an accussed had to use the 'duty' solicitor to question a witness. In the UK a solicitor is not obligated to take detailed instructions from his clients, and these solicitors are usually more concnerned with not inconveniencing the court.

Now that Section 28 is in place, it's in the most cases used by the Police to avoid having to be questioned by a defendant.

That was always the intent of the Law, the reason the Police and CPS fed stories to the press about the need to protect victims, because they knew it would put an end to Police getting shit from defendants on the stand.

God damn your country is shit.

Not my country I'm simply an immigrant to the UK... After serving 15 years in the British Army, the UK wanted £1200 from me to become a citizen and I respectfully declined...
Bloody foreigners. Coming over here, serving our country.

You better have come from some sister-raping child-soldiers-forcing-you-to-eat-your-own-parents terrorist caveman shithole country because living in Britain and serving the British Army when you have a choice about it is the worst thing I've ever heard of.

When I was in Training they occassionally used to have a foreign and commonwealth soldiers parade and I was the only white face on it. The Fijians, and West Africans had a much more realistic view of things.

Anyway the Pension used to be pretty good, not so much any more. Also I bought into the whole idea that Tony Blair wanted to bring civilisation to the poor benighted heathens... Then they kept shooting at us, so I had second thoughts.

If a suspect exercises his right to remain silent then UK Police will often refuse to perform another interview (particularly if a suspect has got his own solicitor) , because being able to enter that initial refusal into evidence is so effective.
There's a reason the U.S. put these really basic, fundamental rights into a lock box where it isn't easy to fuck with them.
There are much better people to root for in this troon war bullshit.
Not really, the pro-troons are almost uniformly utterly vile people, or ignoramuses who have never had to deal with troons and their bullshit, and the antis seem to go nuts after a while if they didn't start out that way.

Outside of Rowling there are very few even semi-mainstream people willing to call this bullshit out.

I'm a bit biased against glinner for my own reasons, but I do honestly think he is a sperg that will do more harm than good. I'd rather see more dave chappelles coming up than some wishy washy culture war dipshit like glinner. But like you said he is something to rally behind and he does piss off troons by doing very mundane shit. I just think that in the long run the GCs and terfs will probably come to regret having him in their ranks.

They are in certain situtations, like if the police arrest you and ask you "why were you there that night?" or "why did you have a bag full of clothes with you?" and you don't answer, or if you refuse to answer questions at trial.

Maybe I'm biased but Father Ted was just really fucking hilarious and he had something to do with that so I cut the dude some slack.

Yeah well that's kind of the point, it's like the right to lube as you're getting gang-raped, as compared to the right not to get gang-raped in the first place.

He also wrote The IT Crowd, which had a legendary man vs. transwoman fight scene, and he co-wrote the lesser-known Black Books with Dylan Moran, which is worth a watch if you haven't seen it.

Glinner posted this yesterday, only to take it down after 6 hours and put a retraction (https://archive.md/HRd6a) in its place.

Ok, this is based

Better archive that video just in case. Which right now I'm struggling to do because the site doesn't want to accept my video file.
