Mark Salling dead; 'Glee' star was facing prison for child porn possession

Mark Salling, the former "Glee" star whose career came crashing down after he was caught possessing child pornography, has died. He was 35.

Salling's attorney told the Associated Press he died in the Los Angeles area.

The LAPD told Fox News the department responded to a call about a body found on Tuesday morning.

According to TMZ, Salling died of an apparent suicide. The gossip site reports that Salling's body was found in California's Tujunga-Sunland area.

"The LAPD did respond to a death investigation at 8:50 this morning at the 11900 block Big Tujunga Canyon Road," an officer told Fox News.

In October, Salling pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography. He was set to be sentenced on March 7 and was facing four to seven years behind bars.

The actor reached a plea agreement with prosecutors in October in which he admitted he possessed images of prepubescent children. The agreement stated a search warrant found more than 50,000 images of child porn on Salling's computer and a thumb drive.

The actor played bad-boy Noah "Puck" Puckerman on the Fox musical dramedy "Glee."

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Bodies don't have to hang off the ground. It was a big thing in Micronesia in the 70's and 80's where young men & women(mostly men) would hang themselves from doorknobs, typically kneeling. Alcohol or drugs probably help(which an actor would undoubtedly use).

There's a pretty thick tree dead center of the pic, hanging is definitely possible in the creek pictured.

With a pedo, it's not like they're physically compelled to molest children. It's something they choose to do. It's (maybe) not their fault for being attracted to children, and they shouldn't be punished for that. But actually molesting children is an action, and that's absolutely their fault.

And they should be aware that if they do commit a sex crime, they will get ground into fine powder.

But it's also important to provide them a safe out. Where, if they seek help and don't diddle kids, they'll be fine.

You need both approaches, both stick and carrot.
I'm not fond of the A-Logging some people get worked up into when the topic is pedos/child molestation, but I recognize where I am posting this & that everyone needs to vent on a moral high ground/pedestal once in a while to stay sane.

It's obviously a bad crime, and affects not only the victims but society by extension. Pedos are easy to hate. I think the penalties associated with it make other crimes' sentencing look strange in comparison, and we really need to revamp many countries' justice systems to humanize them. I'd rate pedos alongside Ponzi schemers in being extremely anti-human behavior, but I feel less disgusted by some murder cases between two or more adults? Some weird metric of "amount of suffering per kilogram" needs to be standardized at some point.
