Well, it's a really pretty game. And you can romance the pretty boy Thanatos, so that's sure to be appealing here.

This is probably the best 12 bucks I've spent on a game in forever. The content just goes on and on, and I'm amazed at how much voice recording they did for this. I'll say to myself that I'm just gonna do 1 more run and then I've been playing for 3 hours.

Regarding horror games, I really enjoyed The Medium. I can't call it an absolute masterpiece, and it borrows heavily from other works, but the story and characters are pretty good. It's sad, sentimental, and beautiful.
Feels like a less visceral version of Silent Hill.

I managed to pick up Fire Emblem Three Houses for just 34 bucks yesterday!
Looking forward to starting that up as I've heard nothing but good things about it. Also, super fun fact; the character designer for Three Houses was also the the character designer for the UtaPri games! I'm not gonna lie, that kinda sold the game for me, it explains why everyone has such fabulous hair!

That's a pretty decent game. Got that FE stank on it but fine for an SRPG. I did Blue Lions and the 4th secret route house but I got so many bad level ups I had trouble beating it. FE stank do drive me crazy.

it's time for me to sort through my 5 billion sims 4 mods to see which one is the one that broke the ui
oh my god i got the game back when they where giving it for free on some pc videogame platform for a sale and i still havent opened it....

today though i bought dirt cheap a second hand nintendo ds that came with everything including a r4 card and ive been downloading roms onto it...! I'm so excited to play the original DS Style savvy...! Which is THE "girly" nintendo game in my opinion. The girl who sold it to me was also so nice too :) It's so nostalgic, reminds me of downloading homebrew as a kid.

i've been playing fashion dreamer and it really feels like a gamedev team's first game. there's a lot of qol stuff missing for no reason and shit like that

that sucks, sorry to hear:( one of my best friends bought it too and she found it very disappointing as well, which made me NOT buy it. The graphics are better but they don't look as aesthetically pleasing in my opinion; everything is so pastel and desaturated... I find the clothes and art style in Style Savvy cuter especially now that their 2010s fashion is coming back full swing.

I honestly don't know what they were thinking; the 3ds style savvy games are incredibly good, the only thing they lacked was more varied body types, but apart from that they were honestly perfect. They could have ported the game to switch and maybe change the storyline a bit for novelty's sake and we would've all bought it and enjoyed it. I wish they would port Tomodachi Life to the switch too, honestly.

tomodachi switch = free money. i can only hope they're working on a full sequel.
i think FS is made by different people entirely considering how differently it works, but it feels like they didn't properly figure out what made ss so special

I couldn't agree more! Tomodachi switch and Rhythm Heaven switch would make them filthy rich.

Honestly i find the switch catalogue kind of disappointing. Maybe it's because of how expensive the games are, I don't know. I LOVE Breath of the Wild, but I didn't like Tears of the Kingdom as much and honestly I still like Animal Crossing New Leaf better than New Horizons even after all this time.

i'm the same on animal crossing, but for some reason i was the opposite with botw/totk. i was never interested in botw or the whole sheikah aesthetic, i just thought it looked really ugly, but i bought totk and really liked it. maybe (absolutely) because of big green daddy
i still need to try playing it after cbd oil softgels because even though i've beaten the game i am too pussy to beat any of the minibosses

Honestly agree, but man I do like just seeing the hills and the designs of the weapons and the animal npcs and grabbing stuff like mushrooms or climbing. The zonai stuff is beautiful but the over world feels more gamey. On the other hand Totk feels more complex which is cool.

goals…

Why are the games so expensive? Some of the sales are good. But it makes it difficult to amass a library if you don't have a lot of freed up money. I do not. *sigh*

I really liked Tomodachi Life. I made characters from all kinds of media and it was so funny when they'd marry. I'm surprised they haven't made another one considering how much the game was promoted.

I also played the partially translated Tomodachi Collection for DS. After awhile I even got the hang of the butt writing mini game. Miis wrote hiragana with their butts and you had to guess the character.

I wish I knew! I know they take time to make and all, but having games be 70 dollars as the STANDARD seems simply insane to me. I only get the ones im really excited for and know I will enjoy, and it still stings. And honestly even though most games look better than ever a lot of them are very poorly designed or are total cash grabs....

Same! That was honestly the best part. Clicking on the apartment building and seeing a window with the pink heart was the best feeling.

OMG cool... I will have to look for a ROM of that...

On the subject of Animal Crossing New Horizons...I'm one of those people who literally has over 1,000 hours in the game and still says it's disappointing. I got to that hour count because I played it about every day for a year after the Happy Home Designer update dropped. For the next game I think they should pivot it into a soft farming game kind of deal. A couple chains of quests, more incentive to grow stuff to make recipes through requests, etc. They can keep most of the DIY stuff but they need to drop the breaking tools, fix the slowdowns, and fix how you get recipes because I still never got a few recipes I wanted. Add some buildings like patios and awnings, make the island bigger, etc. and it'd be great. If you could open a casual business and do a few minigames even better.
Either way, when ACNH came out I thought it would be getting a bunch of waves of content and...yeah. HHD update helped but it was too little too late for most people and unless you bought the DLC it wasn't worth the trouble to get the new items.

last week I bought a 3dsxl that I found second hand dirt cheap and i immediately put custom firmware onto it…. I used a 128gb sd card and dumped a bunch of roms, most of which I’ve never played before.

So…. I come with GIRLY GAME RECOMMENDATIONS!

the style savvy series has been mentioned quite a lot in this thread already but I have to say the original ds game and the first 3ds game are both really good and worth playing even if you’ve played the later entries. The ds one is my absolute favorite just because of the art style alone, though it does feel less refined and with less stuff to do.

In the same vein as Style Savvy, there’s this 3DS game called Girl’s Fashion Shoot that’s basically the same thing except you’re a model and not a boutique owner. Style Savvy feels much more polished in almost every way, however this one can also be fun if you just want to make quick outfits and cute posters; you can choose the pose and choose the background, glitter frames, stickers... It’s a bit like one of those decora Japanese photo editing booths. It’s nice but again I like Style Savvy better.

There’s this DS game called Kira Kira Pop Princess that’s pretty much outfits and dancing. I haven’t played that much yet and so far it does feel a bit barebones (but not shovelware) however the game is VERY charming. The dialogue is very self aware and tongue in cheek and the game doesn’t waste your time, which I really appreciated. The art style is really cute. This one is actually cool and one I see myself playing again soon.

if any of you like Tamagotchis, Pou or Cooking Mama you guys will love the 3DS game Teddy Together. It’s about you and a teddy bear plushy that you take care of, cook for, etc. It asks stuff about you (kind of like Tomodachi Life Miis) and you respond. I found it too braindead honestly but it was also pretty cute.

i also played for like fifteen minutes this DS game called Magicians Quest Mysterious Times. It’s basically Animal crossing and Fantasy Life mixed together. You are a human student in a wizard school town with animal peers. Honestly the game starts really abruptly despite the info dumps and I found it weird as hell but the art style and the dialogue was really charming. Obviously everybody here knows about Animal Crossing, but I’d totally recommend starting a new play through. In my opinion, New Leaf is the best entry and I’ve started a new town and it’s been super fun and nostalgic. It’s a pity the servers are down.

additionally, I tried the 3Ds Miku Project Mirai game, which is also a mix between a rhythmn game and Tamagotchi/Pou, but I didn’t like it; I think I’ll stick with Rhythmn Heaven
The 3Ds Megamix entry was my absolute fave back in 2015. Last week I downloaded the DS one and it’s also super fun. Having to use the touchscreen with the flicking motion rather than the buttons is way cooler and… may I say, a bit more challenging?
If any of you like rhythm games, have you tried DS Elite Beat Agents or Rhythmn Thief? I downloaded them because Ive heard good things, but I haven’t tried them yet LOL.

What I’ve actually have been playing is the Proffesor Layton x Ace attorney game and wow it’s really good. I know everybody and their mother knows about proffesor Layton and Ace Attorney but man I hadn’t gone around to playing the crossover game and it’s pretty fun.

I've been getting into Lightyear Frontier. It's an early-access farming/life sim type game where you land on an alien planet and start a homestead. Not really any other characters around except PIPER, a satellite with a cute country girl voice. It's so hard to find multiplayer steam games that aren't ugly shooters.

A few years ago I was knee deep in playing Love Nikki for the iOS.

It had a death grip on me because I was obsessed with it’s aesthetics.

I'm still playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons even though the game has been dead for almost 3 years (though I did take a long break from it this past Summer). lol. Between the terraforming and Happy Home Paradise, it allows me to be creative, and I have fun with stuff like that. It's been the perfect game to play while my toddler naps and the perfect game to play for unwinding before I go to bed at night. I think my childhood obsession with those Calico Critters toys has come back in the form of this game for me, haha.

I also have two Nintendo Switches, so I am working on a second island now, too.

My husband is trying to get me into Stardew Valley ... But, I don't know ... It's just not grabbing me. And Disney Dreamlight Valley looks absolutely adorable, but ... I don't want to support Disney, so ...

The last "real" video game I played was Spider-Man 2 ... Which was a mixed bag. Some of the game was legitimately great, some of it was turbo cringe. The first game is superior in every way. And I'm currently watching my husband play through Alien: Isolation (which I've been enjoying so far).
