I heard Fashion Dreamer was a letdown for fans of Style Savvy. Read online that
  • Organization is severely lacking and the search function was gimped/removed.
  • No more layering base layers and tops except items which are specifically jackets.
  • There's nothing to do but dress up. No boutique, money, requests, or fashion shows.
  • Customizing items is just changing colors, no patterns or emblems or anything.
I was a Style Savvy fan, once I saw this game looked super focused on social media/influencer stuff I kind of thought it would suck. Unfortunate. I was excited when I saw the series was coming back.

I’ve never played StyleSavvy so I’m still enjoying Fashion Dreamer, but I get this feeling with games in general and with a few of other franchises specifically (e.g. the Sims). Apparently the developers said they would continue adding QOL updates, so hopefully it continues to improve, I would love to see some of the things that fans of Style Savvy have described included in Fashion Dreamer, they sound fun. Not sure if I would recommend it in its current state to someone without disposable income though.

I enjoy farm sims and will not cease playing them because someone thinks it's girly.

That said, ladies, please have some standards. You are the mass consumers of this genre so please do your buddy Ser Prize a solid and reject soulless shit like this:

I was looking forward to Coral Island but I hate dating subquests with a passion.

I just want to make jam and raise chickens.

That's why Stardew is so great. You don't really have to do anything or socialize with the villagers, you can be a hermit with 50 blobfish ponds if you want and it's fine

As I've gotten older I've found myself getting more and more into cosy games. Earlier this year I sunk 65 hours into a game called Wylde Flowers which is the only thing that scratched my Stardew Valley itch that wasn't Stardew Valley in recently years. My only gripe is that it's a little on the woke side (a small island village somehow manages to tick almost every box on the diversity checklist) but the game is so good it ends up winning you over anyway.

You wanna know the fucked up thing is about this is?
For trying so hard to push "diversirty an' shit" Half those fuckers look exactly the same!
And they all have that creepy ass "friendly" smile that in reality screams: "Imma knife you when your back is turned."
(For what it worth I don't even think the art is bad, they just reall all pretty much look the same to me!)

Fae Farm is free to play for a week for Switch Online subs so I tried it for like 30 minutes. It's just a soulless phone game. Wasn't expecting anything else but man... I really wish Concerned Ape would make a second Stardew Valley, I'm too burned out of that game to want to play it again.

Me too. Maybe if people could write a decent romance or not make everyone bisexual queermos. Men and women treat each other differently, you can't just pretend the genders are not different and have writing feel real. Then the fanbases for the games get so obsessed with the crappy dating.

That was a problem with a game I played called Potion Permit. It was a pretty decent game but it needed more to it but the fans only kept whining about dating.

I have no interest in any of the cozy farming sim/management games that have come out post-ACNH unless they differentiate themselves significantly in some way (plot, mechanics, etc.) which none but a few exceptions seem to have done so far. Otherwise it’s too obvious that they’re just capitalizing on the success of their predecessors, which is understandable for a business to do, but I’m not going to play a sub-par version of a game (like what @AbyssStarer said about FaeFarm feeling like a mobile game applies to a lot of them) when I can keep the original in rotation.

Then the fanbases for the games get so obsessed with the crappy dating.

Well, when you’re not getting laid irl…

I'm assuming then that they treated the minority characters as actual human beings instead of tokens?

Yeah. It's a good example of doing diversity right. Something else they do right which @AbyssStarer mentioned above is that the characters seem to have sexual preferences. There are three characters (two female, one male) the main character's age who are undatable. Fans have speculated as to why and the most common conclusion is that they're just not into chicks.

Who played Hogwarts Legacy in here? I've been on a real Harry Potter kick since I got it for Switch, watching the movie again for the first time in over a decade. Did anyone finish it?
Hogwarts Legacy is the shit. The FPS aesthetic similar to that of CoD, Halo and Battlefield with Harry Potter characters, settings and lore would've been too crazy on paper, but it works amazingly.

I’m making my way through now. I’m trying not to rush it. I’ve gotten a ton of XP just doing sidequests and exploring Hogwarts. I was on the cave quest (Jackdaw’s Rest) for 2 1/2 hours last night, explored the whole fucking cave without any spoilers or guides and finally figured out how to get through it, only to get killed by the giant red spiders. I’m going to watch Josh’s walkthrough of it again before starting back up.

I have the game on Switch and honestly it doesn’t look great, but there’s no real need for me to buy a $500 gaming system as I’m only a hobby game player. Despite it not looking great, I’m having a blast with it. I even took the afternoon off work one day last week to play. I love the musical hallways the best and I had a quality conversation one time with Professor Hecat and she’s my new favorite professor. It felt like one of those moments normal students at Hogwarts would have had. It’s been so nice to not rush through it. My other favorite part of the game is when you’re exploring the school and you just end up bang in a place straight out of the movies. I think some bits of the castle are way too big and opulent, but there’s other parts that are absolutely straight on. You can clearly tell, though, that the game is a true work of love for the series and engaged with the deep lore. I can’t wait for the sequel and the tranny tears that will come with it.

It's the load times that are a killer for me, but it is what it is. I like that the game keeps opening up new things to do as you progress, they really cover all the different aspects of wizarding. Your private room opens up some cool stuff later on. I think my favorite part is when you gain access to magical beasts, there's some comfy stuff there.

I got this game on sale and it's been fun! Not much to it - you move to an island, farm items, craft, and repeat. The more you do, the more the story progresses, but it gets boring after a time doing the same tasks and only interacting with two NPCs. The music is short and loops constantly. You can travel to different islands that are randomly generated and drain them of their resources al la Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The controls on the switch version are a touch jank.

Not girly games but currently I'm playing Disgaea 7 and Dragon Quest monsters 3. I might put DQ3 on hold to finish up Disgaea. The cast for 7 really grew on me, best boy is Yeyasu, aka my little pussy bitch. I love that stupid dork, it also helps he's an amazing caster unit to boot.

I finally was able to build my vivarium! Easily my favorite part of the game - the beautiful music, the gorgeous environment, and above all the beasts. It took me forever to catch a Mooncalf and I had to experiment a lot, but I ended up catching all seven in the grove once I got the hang of it. I’m still sad I couldn’t keep all of them and have my own herd. Now I am getting into the plants and potions and messing around there; I’m planning on doing the butterflies side quest to get more spellcrafts since they are expensive to buy. I’ve put in 30 hours already and I’m only at 25% completion.
