I finally decided to throw money at the re-release of Gigantic: Rampage Edition, because it was on sale and I honestly had a blast the first time around. For anyone who doesn't know, Gigantic was a game that initially came out in 2017 as a free to play MOBA-type game, It actually had (and still has) a very nice art style, and was less sweaty feeling than any other MOBA I've played. It was a breath of fresh air given how toxic every other MOBA is. I installed it today and immediately was hit with a 3 minute queue time. This game just got re-released. Why the hell is no one playing?

Looks very mid, a lot of games pop up every day and peoples backlogs get bigger and bigger.
Sometimes you'll notice some games have achievements that are like "Start the game once" and it will say 70% have obtained the achievement and that's because lots of people buy games out of FOMO and never even play them, lots of people play through a tutorial or a level and they indefinitely shelve the game.
Time is precious and most would rather spend what little free time they have playing established IP's they are fond of rather than playing a seemly lackluster and generic looking MOBA.
Also MOBA games are already overwhelmingly saturated.
I think this would be the outside perspective for most and would disinterest potential players.
I enjoyed the game when it was first released as f2p, but I just can't justify buying the game now knowing it wouldn't have a player-base in my region.
It's out now. For 20 dollars. Cheaper now, due to being on sale, I just picked it up for 12. You're absolutely right, the gameplay is actually incredibly fun, and is honestly the epitome of the meme trend genres that were popular at the time. It still is. They even added cross platform functionality. I'm still not sure why this game died so hard because it's the same fun game.
It's not mid, imo. The f2p version was a blast, and that was when it had microtransactions. Now everything is unlocked from completing matches. It's just the old game but with with better consoooomer practices. It sort of feels like people just have Stockholm syndrome when it comes to the battle pass at this point. Although I do see what you mean. If someone hasn't played it before they're probably not willing to drop 20$. Especially with game pass giving you hundreds of sloptent experiences. I just think it needs better marketing.
