An interesting alternative to a free character/weapon can be a character ascension material. Don't know what other gachas do about it.
Reminds about GBF. It has this suptix system for players nail wanted stuff (chars and dupes) from general banners without RNG nonsense. IIRC, occasionally event tix will be available seldomly.
The difference is suptix occurs several times a year and requires money. Won't out MHY pulling the latter for GI.

You mean like universal constelation? I know Azur Lane has spechial things, that can suffice as dupes of any ship in process of upgrading. But there you need dupes for the equivalent of ascension, so they can't be leveled up without this. Also there's like more than 400 different units, so this shit is had to be there. Constelations, on the other hand, aren't that vital for the playability of a character. They may start doing something like this when character pool would become big enough. Like they do crowns now. Moreso, I think they would have to implement more free shit and shortcut mechanisms for the new players at some point. Game gets more and more stuff, and people who would want to start playing in, let's say, a year from now, gonna have lots of catch-up to do.

If you mean like ascension ascension, aka boss drops, then I'd prefer free five stars. Boss drops are much more certain in acquisition, because you know for sure that you have to do boss X times to get how much you need.

Universal constellation, especially for four star characters that do really need it for utility (though I personally want it for Hu Tao C1 which gives a massive boost).

i hate this game lol

So apperantly Sayu is a Bennet with wind damage instead of attack up, might be good but not worth it. In general it seems like the formula for new characters is either 1 very hyped character with no new 4 stars, or a rerun with one new four star. It is quite a shame since I love Yoimiya's design.

They might do something like that for an anniversary, leakers say they can't say what it is but that it's better than Lantern Rite. C2 Baal looks insane, and there's enough C1s and C2s that are great that people would still spend money on reruns if they gave away one a year or something.

These are my feelings, too. Was tempted to roll for Yoimiya, but Sayu showing up multiple times when I don't really plan on building her would be kinda lame.

She's more like an off-field burst dd with an added benefit of healing. At c6 her Q would get 0.2 atk% for periodic damage her summon does per point of EM. By just giving her 3 artifacts with mainstat and Rainslasher, she can reach 822 EM. That's 164%. This attack already does 93% at lvl 10(and that thing triggers once per second or something like that), so this could add up. Also shit's gonna swirl. And she also heals on top of that. At least I think this is how her c6 works.

Did anyone else not like Theater Mechanicus in 1.3? It was... playable I guess, but so fucking boring. I remember you had to play so fucking much to clear out the rewards too. Hoping they scaled down how much you have to play for the rerun of it. Neat concept but having to just sit around and wait for enemies to run into your towers was just boring. Some of those stages were straight up bullshit without permafreeze cheese too. If I wanted to play a RTS/TD game I would play an actual one, not genshin

will trade any hu taofags this for a runescape party hat

As far as I remember, you can whack badmen with whatever you have. It was not dealing any damage, but still could send smaller ones flying and sometimes staggered bigger ones. I didn't had any CC units at the time, so I can't speak of their effectiveness. But the amount of times you had to clear damn stages was annoying. That I remember.

You could also down ruin machines by attacking their weak points, they would get up almost immediately but it still slows them down.

Finally finished prepping Ayaka she's... alright, managed to beat lvl. 80 Azadha which is nice and I still have like 5 levels to invest in each skills and ascension to 80+. Her normal attacks don't hit too hard and the cooldown of her skill is pretty slow, but man her ult hits like a truck. For the meantime she's in a party with water boy, fire chef and ice cat.

certainly beats their crappy whalechecks, and you can coop which already makes it better than prop hunt. did it with a mate for a few hours one afternoon, and 1.3 was half a year ago, so that's fine too.
my personal favorite is still misty dungeons where you can properly test chars in a real representative environment instead of a domain where you fart once and everything's dead. although no coop sadly.

Rainslasher
finally some use for that filler, still no intention on rolling on them tho. yoimiya is fun and gives me kekqueen vibes, but still needs too many constellations for my taste (same for ayaka). sayu don't interest me that much neither for style nor gameplay, and I already got enough greatsword chars.
but I like they are designed with some multiplayer in mind, feels like a more recent design change they hopefully keep up (although baal is probably following the more traditional single boost and burst).

I don't know if I'll ever build her but Sayu is SSS+ tier for world map mobility. Her skill outpaces the taller characters and at no stamina consumption, completely game changing.

Got Sayu on my seventh pull lets gooo
I would love that C6 EM party buff on Diona but my pity is too high to risk rolling more. Sayu C1 seems big too. Like as useful as Bennet C1. Especially if you're building her for damage and not healing.

They turned 12-1 into a crazy DPS check. If you dont kill both the samurai before they heal up you might as well restart. Mirror Maiden has crazy HP too but more manageable as long as you don't get awful luck with her teleporting. These are the teams I used to 36* this cycle:

I didn't believe the "T0 for exploration" shit until today. That roll lasts a looong time and doesn't consume stamina. I wonder if it even uses sprint buffs like double anemo and rosaria? Also she can ice bridge if you can infuse her roll with cryo somehow:

Baal should be the best co-op character assuming her ultimate mechanics actually work in co-op. Her C1 and C2 are extreme DPS buffs though (they've swapped C2 and C4 but both are extremely strong).

Finally leveled my Tartaglia to level 90 and got my Hu Tao to friendship level 10 so I can take her off my main exploration team. I also did a random 10 pull on the Yoimiya banner because I wanted Sayu for my collection and had an extremely lucky roll where I got her 3 times, so that’s pretty nice. Now I think I’m gonna work on building my Zhongli or Venti since I’m pretty content with where my Childe is damage-wise right now, he’s got really decent artifacts on him and I’m very very burned out on the Dragonspine domain. I think I’ll go with working on Zhongli first.

I’m at a shit ton of fates saved for Scaramouche, and I’ve been doing the Momiji-Dyed Court domain in hopes of getting good artifacts for him, because I’m pretty sure that those artifacts will be good on him. I’m so determined to get him c6 without spending anything on his banner. We’ll see how that goes.
